Absolutely love the new content that was shown today, I think Mojang has once again outdone themselves and I’m super excited to play it! I was seeing some commentary earlier however of people saying that it felt like both the pale garden and the creaking lacked a purpose within the game outside of players looking for new building blocks or just exploring. I was thinking about it and I had a few ideas I thought seemed cool.
1. (Favorite idea I had) The first thing I thought when I looked at the creaking heart was that it looked like sap of some kind. I thought it would be interesting to instead of having the creaking drop an item upon death, you could maybe collect sap from it in a bottle while it’s frozen in your line of sight. I thought of a couple things you could do with this: maybe there’s a recipe to brew ominous bottles as an alternative to farming them though mobs or trial chambers, maybe you can brew some sort of healing enhancement with honey (think panacea from hoplite, if you’re familiar). Any number of things really, I just think the idea of collecting creaking sap is interesting and also opens up another type of resource that can be gathered in a non-combat way from a mob hypothetically.
2. Less fleshed out but imagine a rare catacombs structure, basically a large enclosed grand stone brick staircase going down into the ground, spawns in pale garden biomes and leads down into a procedurally generated labyrinth of paths and traps to eventually find some sort of unique loot.
