I think Minecraft should have a block parity update, where at least the "stone" block get slab, stairs, walls, small and big bricks variants (and their associated slab/stairs/walls). Some other block might benefit from it, like glass, concrete, wool and terracotta.
I agree that full sets of every stone-type block, or at least the more “artificial” ones like smooth stone and polished diorite, would be an excellent addition for building purposes. Adding stair and slab variants of concrete and terracotta also seems to be a popular proposal, although if I remember correctly, this has been rejected as “discouraging creativity.”

They say that, but the fact is, that adding different blocks would invite creativity. Forced Creativity is not Good Creativity. Forcing people to build a certain way limits a lot, and devalues the sandbox aspect the game has.
I'd love to see stairs and slabs of most of the different stone blocks, and I'd likely use them in builds. As would almost everyone else. Glass and Wool however, probably shouldn't get those variants.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you. Fool me three times, hold up, rewind, That's not even possible.

I agree that the "limit creativity" is a sorry excuse, it is like saying that having only shades of black and white is more creative than having a full spectrum of colors.
For the Glass and Wool, I included them there because I think they should, at least, get a slab or stairs variant (unless they allow to put carpet on those). But obviously I can't really imagine brick or chiseled version of those (though glass could have mosaics and the likes)
Block forms of storage blocks are a bad idea because people will want to get back the resources from them which calls into question uncrafting of other things like sticks back into planks. So no diamond stairs or bone block slabs.
Well, people can just stick with the storage blocks forms, and not craft the variant unless they really want it. Why would they even wat to spread their ressources into several storage block when one is enough ?

In real life, you can make gold stairs and smelt that gold back into ingots if you need money. In minecraft, uncrafting isn't a concept, so if you were able to make gold stairs you would never be getting that gold back.

Using the ignore feature here is kinda weird.
