Instead of being able to use any combination of wool to make a single red coloured bed, you should be able to determine the colour of your bed by the colour of wool used to craft it.
e.g.
[] [] []
gives a red coloured bed (default colour)
or
[] [] []
gives a green coloured bed.
Fairly simple, slightly useless, but kinda pretty. IMO the more personalization there is in Minecraft, the better.
I agree, but as previously stated, it could not happen.
The various coloured wool blocks and dyes do not have different ID's; just a different damage level (like with tools).
Unless they were given different ID numbers, it would ALWAYS make the same thing.
HOWEVER, I just though of an idea.
It could regularly make a white bed instead of red, but the bed could be dyed like a sheep to change it's colour. I think, unless there's some sort of code snippet that I am missing, this would work, actually.
I support this fully. When beds actually came out, my first bed was made with red wool, so I was like 'Oh cool!' and tried it again with black wool. There was no black bed to be found.
I would really like colorful beds, but for now I have to stick with my blue bed in my texture pack.

This would make the pillow color customizable as well!
