Binoculars, they will help people see from distances instead of creating lag with far distances. I don't see much of a problem with them at the binoculars idea at this time. It would be like this on a workbench,
I don't know how to make it all fit in a 3x3 workbench space. It would be as if it was a tool like a compass or clock (doesn't ware out).Right-clicking would show a zoomed in visualization of the middle section of the screen. And moving the cursor, moves it around, you can not move while using them. I hope this gets your attention!
the reason being that binoculars are precision equipment. requiring more precise materials than stone. i think the binoculars should increase the distance you see, but also decrease you're peripheral vision. creating a form of tunnel vision, and allowing the game to load less chunks than if this simply increased vision. also instead of binoculars you may want to think about this being a telescope, as they were invented before binoculars and fit the explorer theme better, which is what they would be primarily used in. a recipe for those might be

for you
Im very interested in this idea, seeing I can barely make out whats in the distance of my world,
and as for fitting it in, you could probably add something like this, I do also support warmans telescope idea too, but an idea for thought would be the telescope seeing less far than binoculars, but farther than eyesight,
and binoculars weeing farther than the telescope. But the binoculars require two telescopes with a piece of gold or something in between them.
Idk just an idea
if anything the telescope should see farther and have greater tunnel-vision and binoculars are more "passive". though i believe having two items that do the same thing are redundant, especially at this stage in development. i was simply suggestion that a telescope makes more sense then binoculars, without attacking the underlying idea.
