Yes, yes I know. "Learn2search." "This is stupid." "Your type ain't allowed in here." Just read it anyway.
This would be an optional ability for SMP where you can only be a mob after you die. Once you expire, you will see a menu showing different mobs you unlocked as a player. Different mobs will be unlocked in a way similar to this:
NEUTRAL
Zombie Pigman = Killed in a naturally generated city (When/if they come out)
Wolf = Killed by wolves, tamed or untamed.
HOSTILE
Zombie = 1+ humans killed
Skeleton = 3+ humans killed (You can ride non-player spiders by jumping on them)
Spider = 2+ humans killed AND you were killed by a human
Creeper = 5+ humans killed by explosives (admin can disable this option and you can only blow up if you're near a non-hostile mob)
Ghast = stay at least three chunks away from all humans and then die alone
Slime = 1+ humans killed AND killed by slime
You can toggle this feature on or off as the server owner and if you turn it off while others are playing as mobs, they transform back into humans. As a mob you don't have an inventory and can't see/use chat. You have to click players to attack them and skeletons can use their bows freely but only as fast as normal skeles can.
Any suggestions? Complaints? Compliments? Complaints again?
i think this is really cool you could start out as a mob if you wanted to and then you could play a sort of VS mode where its the dark forces VS the friendly mobs and humans where as if you just hit the respawn button you would just respawn as what you were previously but they would spawn on a random piece of grass or maybe you could choose where you respawn
No. But a nice idea would make a SMP mode for it. Then, it would be nice. But without modes for it, it would be bad (since you would be killed everytime). And a special stuff - Zombies and skellos cannot go outside at night time, they must keep somewhere dark, but they can toggle on and off "Dark Vision". Then the player would look likely they are on light... and when is nightime maybe a message show up "Time to hunt humans!" :tongue.gif:
And for skellos the spider would be riden by right-click. There's a chance of 1% that it accepts you. If it not accept, it'll become hostile to you. Skeletons and Creepers are hostile to Nether monsters, player or not. Ghasts are only hostile to humans and spiders.
These stuffs, likely hostile to who, would make it better.
I think a better idea would be to have a sort of "mutation block" which, when right clicked will transform you into any one of the mobs you have unlocked. Unlocking the more powerful mobs should also be harder, and they should all offer special abilities( eg. squids can breathe and see underwater, skeletons have infinite arrows and can see clearly in darkness, ghasts can fly and shoot explosive fireballs <--I want to be a ghast, zombies can... walk around blindly, spiders can climb walls, and chickens can go through narrow tunnels and glide. Other passive mobs can't really do anything though... maybe eat grass, wheat, sugarcane, or leaves to regain health?) The block placing abilities should still be allowed though, since that is what minecraft is all about...
*Catches breath* It took me a day but I made it back to my computer *violently gasps*

Who would want to be a squid or cow? Enjoy doing absolutely jack **** in a video game...
why u mad tho?
Actually I would still enjoy it, as long as there were any small villages w/o fences or underwater cities or something. It's a better idea than just getting banned after death like Notch has considered adding because at least you can still watch others live on and build without really modifying the terrain. Also I'd really like to see a player pig getting ridden!
The whole "becoming a cow/chicken/squid" thing is bad but becoming hostile mobs has a lot of promise. It could be a bit like Left 4 Dead's versus mode, where the zombies can select their spawn point and respawn as a random baddie whenever they're killed. In Minecraft you'd randomly become a zombie, creeper, skeleton, or spider and could spawn anywhere with low light levels sufficiently distant from the player.
People could design survival horror reach-the-shelter chase maps, build-the-shelter construction maps, battle maps with points assigned for kills, hide and seek maps, etc.
Until there'd be some use to being a cow or sheep, I wouldn't want to be either of those.
Being a pig would allow people to ride you with a saddle, and being a chicken makes you small and immune to fall damage, so there'd be something useful there.
Also, the requirements for a Ghast seem too easy. Perhaps they should be more along the lines of long distance from all other players, and die in Lava.

Just get the zombie skin and walk around hitting people. Or get TNT and a creeper skin. And get banned.
