Bone idea:
Throwing bones at enemies, which causes your wolves to attack the enemy that the bone was thrown at. Or after thrown your wolves will go to that general area and sit.
Item carrying:
You can press the throw button when looking at a tamed wolfs snout, and it will "grab" the item with its mouth, right click the item to take it back.
Fear:
Wolves will have random settings of fear, whether it be heights, water, lava, tnt, fire, cacti, etc. and will avoid them and try to find the nearest path not involving their fear.
for the
Anger towards player:
An example of this would be if you accidentally hit one of your wolves, or do not feed them when they are hurt (or if implanted hungry), your wolves anger will increase, and if reached to a high random point, they will attack you.
This could be possibly applied to wild wolves, and they will attack you, act friendly, or be passive towards you depending on how you treat the environment, other animals, and your wolves. (ie if you cut down all the trees, and don't replace them, anger will increase, or if you kill a bunch of other animals, or if you don't feed your wolves.)
Now that I think about new features, I'm thinking there should be a way to get Wolves to dig for you. So, say you do something particular to train it, then when you punch a Dirt Block from the Side on, your Pooch will dig in a straight line through that Dirt until it reaches a Block of another type. This would also work for Sand and Gravel.
So, for example, if you click a dirt block and it digs through it, if it reaches sand or Stone, or a Block that ins't dirt, it will stop and return to the Entrance of the Hole. This could make it easier to dig through materials that are Normally pretty tedious, even with a Shovel. Anyway, Wolves are pretty Rare and as I said, you'd have to give it a certain bit of Training., so we can't really say this would be Overpowered, and it'd be risky making your Pup dig through Sand and ravel Anyway incase it suffocates, so it has its risks.
Thoughts?
Like it better than the other digging suggestion...Added (Read: Replaced the other digging suggestion)
I'd say no to gravel though - Gravel is rock. :tongue.gif:
And maybe (for a high-realism mode, likely) have an energy meter that runs down as the wolf digs. Overworking your mutt will get PETA on your ass.

Big no on that last bit. Wolves aren't hippies: They don't care. :tongue.gif: And it should be a fixed value with actions contributing a fixed amount, not random.
But regardless, not really into the anger bit. The fear thing would be great considering they have the self-preservation of Down Syndrome zombies right now.
When the gun-and-nuke threads actually start to sound like a welcome break, there's a problem. So if you've got a wolf idea, post it here. I'll update this OP with it then everybody can work on tweaks, suggestions, feedback, and cutting down on all the duplicated suggestion threads. Now I'm breaking for lunch, and I expect this wolf stuff to stop cluttering my forum when I get back.
Horrible post.
Cool story bro. Thanks for keeping it bumped, ya ****in tool.
Before posting ideas here though, you should check that list of already-suggested stuff to see if your idea is different enough to warrant a post.
Irony works in weird ways. I won't be surprised to see a post or four with already suggested ideas (probably sometime down the line when this hits 15+ pages).

How is it horrible? By condensing everything to one topic it reduces the clutter on the main page.

Because none of these ideas are his and he is just being lazy taking others suggestions.
You're seriously under the impression he's taking others ideas as his own? I suppose you're going to say the same with Kira's topic (no offense)?
Both Yg's and Kira's topics have the same purpose in mind; They both make a list of already made topics for people to look at, and debate whether to help update the topics or create a new one if their idea isn't there or different enough from those in existence.
I don't know why I even bother anymore.

Dogsled idea I posted someplace and am now posting here:
Craftable contraption to link wolves to a boat. Probably involving iron and string. No idea on what the recipe would be beyond that.
Link a wolf to a boat to create a dogsled. 1.5x walking speed. Has a (x)% chance of breaking down on non-snow/ice terrain or a durability meter that runs down only while on non-snow/ice terrain but I don't know if that's codeable. Returns 3 plank blocks upon breaking.
Actually the correct answer was to see if I could ignite a flamewar and see how long it takes for mods to take down a topic but you get kudos for making a good answer.
Now that I think about it, hey Yg should you include threads about other types of dogs or just wolves?

I'd say just wolves. And I decree TheWorthlessLegacy shall not be entertained with responses from this point. Feel free to duke it out in his crappy power source thread though.
One problem I've been having with my 13 dogs is their tendency to push me around whenever I'm trying to do something -- and it is NOT easy to get them all to sit. I think it might be a good idea to turn off collision between dogs and their owners. This may be unnecessary, however, if things like dog whistles and a generally better AI are implemented. Still, even if they are implemented, it might be a nice thing at certain times when you can't pull out your whistle.

Um...I think the THIRTEEN dogs might be your issue there.
Whistle that makes all tamed wolves in a given vicinity sit/stand at once would be great though.

Nah. It's a lot more entertaining to /popcorn and watch people get baited.
In any case I'll be on the look out for topics not mentioned yet, assuming I don't brick my computer (currently messing around with the overclock settings on my gpu).

So, are we supposed to add all newer ideas for dogs here in this thread, or do we still create a new thread if it's a new suggestion?
Add it here, new or otherwise. I figured out how to link to specific posts within the thread, so any new stuff will still be linked in the OP.
Before posting ideas here though, you should check that list of already-suggested stuff to see if your idea is different enough to warrant a post.
