When the gun-and-nuke threads actually start to sound like a welcome break, there's a problem. So if you've got a wolf idea, post it here. I'll update this OP with it then everybody can work on tweaks, suggestions, feedback, and cutting down on all the duplicated suggestion threads. Now I'm breaking for lunch, and I expect this wolf stuff to stop cluttering my forum when I get back.
I deleted my topic because of you. I hope you're happy ;-;
Firstly, being able to dye wolves would be a cute cosmetic (read: useless) feature. I'd like to be able to tell my wolves apart, and this is the only way I can think of (besides being able to name them and have floating names above them, but I don't like that as much and it would deter immersion). Perhaps different dyes could add abilities; ie: red wolves run faster. (that last sentence was a joke)
Secondly, I don't know what the limit of how many tamed wolves, but I have 6 after only 1 in-game day and 1 in-game night looking for them (I found my first four on the first day). There should be a limit of 4 following you at once.
Thirdly, they spawn too frequently. During the day time they're nearly hard enough to get, maybe just make it slightly less likely, but at night time all you have to do is go into a forest and either find an april fools chest and hang around there, or place a couple torches down. Mobs will spawn there (because that's the only place they can spawn), but more importantly, wolves will only be able to spawn there, so you're pretty much guaranteed to find at least one spawn of a wolf (or wolves) before day time. Therefore, they should be even less likely to spawn at night.
Another point is that having different following commands would be kind of cool. I have no idea how this would be implemented, but I think it would be great if you could toggle wolves between following the quickest route to you, and exploring around slightly but still following like they currently do.
Thank you for taking the time and reading this, and I am aware that the dye idea has probably been posted to death. I apologise for my sentence structuring, I get criticized a lot for writing sentences that are hard to understand (although obviously they make sense to me).
Please read my post on the whistles before including them in this list.
Yeah, wasn't the best idea for whistles...I'm gonna leave it listed for now though. At most, maybe it'll stop somebody duplicating a less-than-useful whistle idea.
And can somebody tell me if the megathread link in my sig works? People tend to have issues with the url shorteners I use.

Also, (in relation to my earlier thread) how do those work, the ones in your sig when you hover your mouse over them are shorter than the examples on the site. Also whats up with the arrows in the doc one?

URL shorteners (tinyurl being the well-known favorite) enable you to paste a very long link and convert it into a very small link.
Doc.gg is a url shortener created by an acquaintance of mine by the username of docsigma. Imagine Harry Potter's Hagrid if he were a metal fan. It's been reliable and creates slightly shorter URLs than others I've tried, so I use it often. Why it has arrows, I don't know. It shouldn't since I use the plaintext version but I guess it makes little difference. The arrows are just unicode though.

With a little constructive feedback, the whistles have been made slightly better. And this is totally not a bump.
