The Snake would be a mob that would spawn in the desert and would be a passive monster during the day, but at the night would attack unprovoked. The snakes main purpose would be its loot, when killed would provide a "Poison sack". This poison sack would be applicable to your sword tips and arrow heads thus making poisonous weapons. An alternative to looting this poison sack would be "Milking" it with a bucket. Then simply combining the item with the poison inside the bucket and receiving your bucket after the fusing process is complete. The reason I suggested this concept of a snake is because they're isn't a definitive desert spawn yet and I believe the snake would be an awesome addition! I hope people consider this suggestion and try to build off of it. -Dambrosio
Hmmm.. I really don't agree with that sizing. That would, firstly, make an unreasonably large mob, and, secondly, the ratio seems wrong... I think, like some later posts state, that It should be about the size of a mobs leg or arm.
If it were to be a block high and wide, it should be seven or eight blocks long..otherwise, that would look odd.
If smaller, about the size of a pigs leg, it would be about two blocks long instead, which seems more reasonable. For a larger mob, I would make it slightly larger than a pig or cows leg, and three blocks long.
On topic:
Poison has been declined by Notch due to balance and frustration reasons.
A snake would be a cool mob to have though.
I never did like poison much, but I've seen games balance it out. I like the idea of the spider-like aggressive stuff, but I think it would need a bit more before it becomes ready for a full out idea
And yes, for those who noticed them, those tense fails were on purpose.

At a loss for words? Here's a few you can use: Welcome, to Night Vale...
Possibly! Or a Giant Serpent that can burrow or something. Either way, lets make us a mob that makes travelers fear the desert!
i would of thought they would be the size of a skeleton's arm

Of course, combat in Minecraft isn't such as big focus. But variety would really help/
