I actually remember having similar loose thoughts years ago (like back when I first started playing so closer to a decade ago).
I always thought having a very rare chance of little or no mobs on some nights (whether something replaced them or not), and inversely, more or harder mobs on other nights (somewhat of a thing with local difficulty and moon phases?) were ideas worth exploring.
Yea, i whould love that to happen, if a bloodmoon occur perhaps even more enemies will spawn and becomes stronger or even damages buildings or opening doors. Fullmoon perhaps can turn some villagers inte werewolves and cause chaos, just to play with the thougth.
I don't know what to think of this one, nights are supposed to be scary and normally you should be required to either find a mushroom island to inhabit or build a well lit part of territory with fences or walls to keep monsters away from you.
However if this were a rare occurrence then I would be indifferent to it, not saying I support it, but I wouldn't be angry about it either,
I can wait the next night if I want gunpowder off Creepers for making splash potions or something along them lines, same with anyone else, not a big deal for anybody from what I can tell.

Rare is implied, yes. Also welcome back

Thank you, I do appreciate that, also I do see your point and is also the point of OP above our posts in the thread.
But we do have other options in the game already for peaceful nights, the rare spawn of mushroom fields biome, which if you're very lucky, can generate close to original spawn, as it did on my current world and is where I built a base to protect it against aggro from Pillager raids and what not.
But friends and I still have to deal with Drowned Zombies from time to time, I don't mind this though, the game spawns them by technicality of not being on the mushroom island so the game AI isn't cheating, it's a legitimate and intentional feature which can be worked around by fencing off the beach.
But a Hallowed Night update would be interesting.
I've proposed adding seasons to the game so having a Hallowed Night as one day per in game year thing would be nice,
it could happen on "Christmas", to simulate a "temporary truce" between hostile mobs and players.
Or alternatively you could have it happen on All Hallows Eve, either once per in game year or real life year if no season update ever happens, I don't care really, having something like this wouldn't hurt the game, it just means players have to wait the next night to grind for hostile mob exclusive drops.
I want there to be a rare encounter that can occur on nights that causes nights to stay safe and not summon evil mobs.
When this happens you can encounter fairies and when approached they will heal you up and give you a random blessing, That lasts for several minutes.
Perhaps even unicorns can show up.
There will also be a different music playing, such as a fairy/fantasy or harp music playing.

I love these types of ideas..
Perhaps you could activate the "calm nights" when sleeping, you would get the option of a Dream Mode.
All the best...Ian.

That can be the alternative, perhaps by brewing a magical potion and the next time you sleep you will get the dream mode option.
I think this is a really cute idea! It adds more incentive to sometimes stay out longer and test to see if it were to happen. Very whimsical too.
