I couldn't think of a better name, because Death Knight is copyrighted.
Anyway, this wasn't suggested, I looked at the thread for already suggested ideas. I thought it'd be cool if there would be a mob that brings darkness. I know it was hard to guess. It'd be called Darkbringer. It'd spawn deep underground, in caves, and spawns only in TOTAL DARKNESS. The only way to see it is to have a redstone torch. What it would be like is a dark, shadowy shape of a human with glowing red eyes. You wouldn't see the eyes until it attacked you. It would be silent, but cave ambience would always sound when there was one nearby. When it spotted you, it'd let out a hollow growl and start chasing you. It would move at spider speed and it would turn all nearby lava into obsidian and extinguish any nearby torches. The only exception is redstone torches. Glowstone would be converted to normal stone.
When the Darkbringer got close enough, it would attempt to get you in a corner. When it did, it would rush toward you, and you would take half a heart of damage each second unless hitting it enough times. When you hit it, it would screech and stumble back. On death, it'd drop a piece of obsidian.
It could follow you to the surface. It would turn nearby light into moonlight level darkness and it would not burn in daylight, unless you hit several times and it stumbled backward. It'd start to burn. You cannot do the "Slash and Back Up" strategy, because it runs too fast and it will get you into a corner. When it started burning, it would let out a shriek and would die within seconds.
If it got you in complete darkness, you'd hear an echoing cackle, and your hearts would deplete at the efficiency and speed of lava. Armor would be useless against this.
What do you think?

If time is money, then are ATMs time machines? Your mind has been blown.
Way overpowered, if it spawns in only complete darkness then sunlight should obliterate in a second. Also puttin out glowstone is cheap, because you need 9 glowstone dust to make it, the whole point is that it is permanent.

Changed that. Also, it isn't too overpowered now that it instantly dies in sunlight * * and it stumbles backward when you hit it.

Overpowered.. but still a good idea :biggrin.gif: I like it :biggrin.gif:
I don't like most of the specifics, but if implemented Notch would fix those anyway so I won't nitpick. Nasties that burn out torches and enshroud themselves in darkness would fit into minecraft very well.

Not necessarily. Its red eyes glow, so if you were to see its eyes, you could hit at its eyes.

O... kay...
Good luck with that...

Added! And good idea, didn't think of that. Also, it wouldn't make sense if they dropped something used to make light.
