I know there a lot of ideas for the new wolf update and I'm sure we don't need another one but I'm confident about this one. If you shoot a mob with a bow your dogs won't attack it and I'm okay with that but i have an item siggestion that would let you get you dogs to attack from a distance: Yellow Attack Ball:
Crafted like so
Use: Get one of your wolves (assuming you have a pack) to attack the target.
Red Attack Ball
Crafted like so
Use: Get your whole pack of wolves (again, assuming you have a pack) to attack the target.
I know you can just run up and hit the damn thing, but this would let you send the wolves to attack from a distance (in case you don't wanna risk it ;D)
Also, could someone think of a better name for it? I don't like "Attack Balls" and constructive criticism is appreciated thanks!
Crumpled up ball of flowers? Not sure about recipe. Oh god... slimeball use? Or, y'know, just make it so that wolves go for mobs you hit with an arrow and do away with the need for new items.
if you make them attack what ever you hit with an arrow, they would run for creepers and...
that's the reason notch didn't do that in the first place.

honestly, did you even consider what happens after you throw the ball? how many you have? how many get crafted? what if you miss?
yes i did. when you throw it, it acts as a snowball. if it hits, the dog(s) will attack. if you mass, nothing. one per 4 flowers, and they stack up to 16.

I meant post that with your original idea.
this seems too expensive anyway. and I still rather the wolves attack when you damage a mob.

1. Lock them up.
2. If you want one to attack why not the rest? Three form a fairly effective kill squad as seen in the video.
