It never comes, the potential to make this world known as Mine-Craft breath , and feel as if the world around you is a world you must survive in, a world to thrive in.
I feel saddened by the fact that animal A.I is still so limited, that mobs still feel like more of an annoyance than a real danger, that new game-play mechanics are still so very limited in scope that they feel more like gimmicks than true expansions upon the world.
Yes, I understand games take time, I understand the devs have a lot on their plate already; but I feel that the reason there is so much they are working on is because of the fact that things are released without depth or a strong polish(This is not to decry that the world has no polish, but a lack of true will to focus on adding to the depth of what is here, and to alter the mechanics to supplement that).
I'm not trying to be cruel, I'm not trying to cry out that the devs need to revamp the whole world; I simply want to see more depth added to the experience.
The chance to grow a livestock farm; not a small feat, but with massive benefits.
The chance to expand Animal A.I; to see wolves, sheep, pigs, cows, horses, birds, bears, (I'm still wondering why "Mo'animals" mod were never just outright incorporated into the game, if even with a few tweaks, like certian animals spawning in certain biomes and such) each one with different behavior and reactions; the potential here is staggering.
The chance to move beyond just the basic means of electricity, to create the first "electric lanterns", to see a means beyond doors and traps for redstone.
The chance to grow more than just trees, but mushrooms, corn, and the ever stalwart potato.
The chances to expand this game and polish so much of it into a living world; and yet it feels like it's always missing it. I understand the main purpose of the game (For some) is to build, and to mine. But when the buildings become stale to the eye, and digging serves no more purpose but to supply you coal, you too will find yourself...tired of the world around you. I hope, maybe someday that the world of Mine-craft will begin to breath life, and that a true...survival and "life" can be made.
I have no complaints beyond the sadness at so much potential not being used, I love what is already here; I love to build, I marvel at things many people build, I marvel at the massive caves I find at times. I've puckered and run many a time to the subtle sounds of a creeper as he hisses. Every moment has been a new expansion on how I saw the world; but that does not draw away from how little of it feels alive, and how little of it goes beyond just aesthetics and the basics means of shelter.
I just hope I'm not the only one who see's it this way.
It'll get there, provided the "Minecraft has infinite possibilities!" crowd doesn't get too loud. Can't exactly expand on something that already has infinite possibilities...
yah i feel like that to, the creper has the most ai for movement(if it cant get to you it ignores you) but then it stops tehre, the dogs shuld be able to folow you thrue doors (find there way thrue) insted of gust bouncing off a wall, mobs afraid of lava and fire and clifs, stuff like that would make it feel more "natral"

1) Get grass to grow where you want the animals to spawn. Once the grass has grown, fence off the area and keep it lit.
2) Mo' creatures is not in vanilla minecraft, and as a result, the developers of minecraft cannot do anything to enhance the AI of the mobs that come with it. I'm personally glad mo' creatures isn't part of vanilla. The mobs have too many pixels, the horses seem stupid, many of the mobs are just cows that kill things, and the everything else is just annoying. The AI of the mobs in vanilla minecraft could be better though.
3) Instead of adding 'electric lanterns' why not make it so redstone torches can give off more light? (A example is in my sig, sorry (not really) for self advertising.)
4) I think we have enough food items.
5) I think that the only way minecraft will achieve its true potential is if a virtual reality helmet/room is made for minecraft. I doubt that will happen for a while though. :tongue.gif:
One idea per thread, and think that idea through to its maximum potential.

Three things Minecraft needs to hit its full potential:

Three things Minecraft needs to hit its full potential:
1) Smaller blocks for decoration (say...1/8?)
2) Mod maker
3) Starcraft/RPG Maker-esque campaign/map editor.
Also, FOUND A WOLF...HAVE NO BONES!!! D:

Right, that too. But even without that, those three would be epic.
Got killed anyway. Alas, no wolf...
