A lot of times i've been trying to make something in minecraft, only to click the wrong crafting recipe by mistake. Or, I finish a project that I way overestimated the amount of materials i'd need for it. Or I'm working on a project, and need materials for it in a pinch.
That's where the deconstruction table comes in, allowing you to reverse the crafting of an item or block to revert it to it's bare essentials. I think this'd be a great addition that could really help with building.
This wouldn't work with weapons or anything that has durability though, because people could use the table to have never breaking armor/tools.
Been wanting one for ever. I mean we have the disenchanting method with the Grindstone to get xp orbs back why not recipes in a crafting table.
Potions/Smelted not sure if they would allow reversal of those or some 'magical' way to say it fits into the world even though who cares, it could break the balance of the game though too, but I mean stack sizes can be a mistake depending on how you use the crafting quality of life tweaks that have been around since 1.5, I do mess up sometimes and I have seen Youtubers do so sometimes make too much of something, so I assume it does happen enough with other players too, the other block are more controllable I think especially as they have fuel and a progress bar so it's still possible to manage it. I manage my coal all the time with just the right amount i need to use and store the rest I don't like to waste it (a me thing knowing how I go through resources XD) just as much as the item I want to smelt.
I mean in-universe if your crafting stone bricks you should be able to break them to the original form in a crafting table if you aren't via a new item like a chisel (or reusing a hoe/sword or something) or by using a pickaxe which of course is to pick them back up in survival. Bricks/Nether Bricks to their item brick form not too sure but I mean if we needed a flower pot for whatever reason or other recipes in mods for example.
That and the we have too much armour/tools/weapons from structure travelling and want to get the resources not wear the armour/use the tools.
That and why can we not get string from wool, I mean how many people want that? (As in I like many others I assume do want this feature, my bad if it reads differently) I assume many. What about decracking, demossing bricks (I assume with shears maybe if not crafting table and drops vines like you do with clay, you craft clay balls to a block, but use a shovel to break them to clay balls again).
I meant I want String from Wool. I agree for early game for bows or other things. I may have worded it badly but I did mean in a case of 'of course people want this' sort of way. I know people want that feature for sure.
I'll edit it to be more clear what I meant. Sorry for the confusion.

I agree to everything but not this. Strings from wool means early bows for early game.
Of course it would be nice for builders.
