I was thinking of some sort of currency for minecraft.
Now I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that there's no point to the idea, that there's nothing to spend this money on. Well, I was thinking somewhat beyond just having a currency.
I read some stuff about the gnomes that might be going to be introduced in the game. Something about them maybe living in villages or something, in huts. I also read that pigmen might be introduced, as an answer to the zombie-pigmen. They might also live in huts in small groups or something.
So what I was thinking is that some sort of trade function could be added, so that we could trade things with these tribes who live on the surface. A currency might not be needed even, as metals and diamonds might be very attractive to them. This could give a good use for gold.
I was thinking of this in a sort of Zelda-ish way, where you enter a small house and start talking to some guy. This would maybe not work for minecraft though. An alternative to this, however, could be some sort of block, similar to a workbench, where one of the tribe members were at all times. In an adventure mode of minecraft, this might be pretty cool! You could sell stuff, gold or redstone or whatever, to some blacksmith or something, and get minecraft-rupees. Then you could use those to buy stuff at a salesperson further down in the village. Here you could buy stuff that you couldnt get elsewhere in the game, like poison or handgrenades or something.
Perhaps you can just right click on one of the new mobs instead and it brings up a little window that shows all of the things they have, and you click on the thing you want, and it high lights the things they want (for barter).
Otherwise, I would be kind of fine with Gold Ignots being converted into currency/coinage for SSP.

Any of you agree that this would be cool?
