While building an underwater tunnel the other day i realized there should be an easier way to determine height and width of an object, space, obstacle, etc. than individually counting blocks.
SO, I propose....
The Surveyor.
I have no idea how they work in real life and don't care, this is Minecraft.
To craft the surveyor is done like so.
[] [] []
The surveyor when used would put the user in a first person view. The user would then highlight a block, when the user highlighted a second block it would display the X, Y, and Z distances between the two blocks selected in meters and blocks. Giving you an idea of how tall a structure would be in meters, or how large the gap for a bridge is, how deep a lake is, how tall a mountain is. Without having to count individual blocks. The surveyor could not be used on air, only physical blocks.
This would allow users to know exactly how much material they need for a project, thus leading to more effective strip mining.
Like the Compass and Watch/Clock the surveyor has no durability due to its expensive nature.
Yes I know I can f3 and get the coordinates but thats no fun, and I might accidentally discover a dungeon or something the cheap way by using f3. So this is better.
