Here's a simple yet very useful think would be wooden, iron, and golden furaces.
Wooden furnace
[]
Resoruces last 1/2 the time, and the things that you cook take 2x the time. The only reason this would be used is for a more accessable furnace. Since this is wood, it would burn itself after 15 items were cooked. Kind of like how wood can be cooked into charcoal, this would be another one of those accessibility features.
Iron furnace
[]
Resources last 2x the time as they do in a stone furnace. And cooked items would be cooked 2x faster. this would be for efficiency. If you ever have had a buttload of iron, this would be another use.
Gold furnace
[]
Again, this would be for efficiency. Resources last 3x the time of a stone furnace. And, the cooked items are done 3x faster.
Tell me what you think!

Wooden furnace recipe is the same as chest, and in general, wood furnaces would be OUTRAGEOUS!! There's a reason that you use wood as fuel :sleep.gif: And I think 1 furnace type is enough.
Either way, let's pretend, for a minute, that we would accept furnace tiers...
How in the hell would a more efficient furnace make fuel last longer? It burns the same way, and it should take the same time burning, is all.
And instead of making them cook stuff faster, it should just allow you to cook more than one item at the same time per piece of fuel.
I think I have just read a fail. If you can only cook one item per fuel, WHY DOES 1 COAL COOK 8!? HMMM? HOW DO YOU ANSWER THAT!? By saying: Because some fuels cook more then 1 item per fuel.
And instead of making them cook stuff faster, it should just allow you to cook more than one item at the same time per piece of fuel.

Boy, someone can't read...

(Dammit, Ninja'd. Leaving it there anyways!)
Also, it's the same recipe as the Chests, so that wouldn't work.
Gold is pointless too. And Iron
The wood furnace recipie is the same as a chest.
(Wow, super ninja'd.)
We don't need more furnaces anyway.
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
Guess it's about brainstorming and seeing what people think, though.
I failed. Lol.
