This is a remake of a topic I made that kind of died. I felt that it was a good idea, so I decided to revive and revise it.
This is something that came to me as something to fill a few roles ranging from practical and aesthetic. This also gives leather, a rather bare bones item, another use. Best of all, it uses no new materials. The basic recipe goes like this:
=leather
This will give you an object that's one block wide, and half a block tall. It looks like a brown piece of leather stretched over some sticks and pegged into the ground. However, when placed on a wall, it changes to look like it's being supported kind of like an awning.
You might be wondering why it's so simple to make. Well, the reason is simple. Look at the chest block. It's very useful, yet simple to make. I want the trampoline to also be simple and easy, rather then being hard to make for the sake of being hard to make.
Possible name:
Trampoline, though if anyone has a better name, go ahead and tell me. I'll consider it.
Features:
When you're standing on the trampoline and you jump, you'll jump higher. How much higher? About two and a half blocks higher.
Now your probably wondering why you don't bounce automatically. It's so you have more control. This is to help you in both SSP SMP so you don't have to worry about timing if you have to push space as you land or taking damage if it automatically bounces you. However, If possible, that this system can be changed to where you can hold down the jump button to gain height up to a maximum of, more or less, three and a half blocks higher.
When you throw an item onto the trampoline, the item will be thrown up, also keeping the momentum/direction in which they're going.
When you fall onto the trampoline from a height that can damage you, you will not take damage. However, if you fall from a height, say, ten blocks, then you'll break through the trampoline and loose about two blocks of your speed. Trampolines destroyed like this are simply reduced to sticks. Probably about three sticks.
Other Possible features:
When you place two, or even four trampolines together, then it'll change it's graphic to look bigger. However, this is purely aesthetic.
When place, can be right clicked to make it slant if its in a groove (Where the wall and floor/ceiling meet.) This will let you have them face up, down, slanting left, right, diagonal ect. This would make it useful for transporting items and people across a series of trampolines. This might not be implemented, though, due to how complex it is.
Limitations:
Cannot have other blocks placed directly on top of it and cannot be placed directly on the ceiling(Unless the tilt-able function is added).
Feel free to comment. All I ask is that you're fair with your views and please, do not respond to troll posts.
I dont like the idea of trampolines, you should jump on them for like 5 times to get 1 meter high because else mc becomes like some lame platformer
Uh, one meter is one block, which you can jump normally. Pretty sure if you jump on a trampoline 5 times to build momentum, you go higher than you can jump from solid ground. I agree though, if trampolines are implemented, you should have to build up some momentum rather than them being immediate.
The instant increase in jump height is to compensate for SMP lag, otherwise the timing would be a pain. However, if you only have to hold the jump key, then it would be fine. I also don't want it to bounce automatically because then you'll have trouble getting off the thing.

Nice idea though. Not too farfetched.
