Tomatoes are going to be a new type of food that regenerates 0.75% of 1 hearth it can be find in any village except in the snow village because Tomatoes don't grow when it's cold. Tomatoes would be a type of food that you can throw like eggs, and when thrown they will have a little red effect, and will deal the same damage like eggs.
Tomatoes could be used in a crafting table to create a tomato soup.
The craft recipe would look like this:
🍅 🍅 🍅
🍅 🍅 🍅
🥣
If there is something you want to know about the tomato item that i didn't mention, ask in the comments
1.Tomtato being acidic and used as a weapon/potion/something else.
2.Otherwise we have enough vegetables and sometimes foods after a while do have too many similar features when they need enough to separate them. I feel the same with modded tools. I only need so many materials and otherwise I don't need 5 that are Iron level, 5 Stone level and so on when Stone is accessible usually (unless designed world gen or recipe wise to be hard) so I don't really see a need.
If it were used in a meal to justify higher saturation/hunger then sure but if around the same as others than I don't really see a point. That or like Honey was it being from a mob compared to seeds, an apple from a tree and other varied ways to acquire it.

The problem with the Minecraft food system here is it is too simplistic
I don't see how many more foods could be justified being added into the game without also giving them unique effects of some kind.
Alternatively, food sources need to be biome specific.
They sort of already are, but the overwhelming majority of biomes do in fact have grass in the Overworld, including tall grass, making wheat technically the most common food item.
In what biome, would tomatoes be native to? certainly not the badlands, almost nothing exists there except sand, cactus and dried or dead bushes.
Now if we had date palms introduced in desert oasis, a new desert variant, this would be a start to making deserts somewhat a more likeable biome to survive in. I don't see potential for the tomato here, sorry. I know I've suggested enhancing tomatoes with redstone to make mysterious tomato, but I've had second thoughts about this recently, because I don't really have a good solution for it.

I don't really get this. These tomatoes give you a regeneration status effect, or..?
A suggestion this small belongs in the small suggestions thread. Maybe if you had more detail or more to say about it, that'd be different.
