Would never happen in MC, but a mod with this might be interesting.
Bulldozer. Crafted with wood, iron, redstone torches for sparkplugs, and more iron. It's floorspace would occupy a 2x3 grid. It would operate in this fashion: You climb in. You start the engine. You begin driving forwards. Any increase in terrain height by one over the terrain you're on will get broken up _and stored_ inside the "bucket" (like a chest of course). When you reach ground where the ground is one or more levels below you, blocks are randomly removed from the bucket and placed below until it matches your level or you run out of material. Hitting a vertical surface of two or more blocks in height will act as a regular wall, stopping your forward progress. Perhaps there can be "dig" and "travel" modes, in case you don't want to flatten out the area you are on, and instead want to go up/down the hill before getting to work.
Just for laughs, putting a finished bulldozer in the 3x3 crafting area and surrounding it with iron blocks gets you a KILLDOZER, which is an armored bulldozer that no mob can destroy. (Though creepers can get you stuck in a pit, if lucky)
I'd love to see macro-scale machinery in Minecraft. We've got the carts and tracks, which is nice, but it'd be fun to have some real earth moving equipment as well. It'd definitely facilitate macro scale construction.
Then why is it here?
