How about Glass/Gold/Diamond doors?
And what about Solar Panals as a new type of switch? Hooks up to Redstone.
And maybe slanted blocks (such as ramps as an alternative for stairs).
And how about a corner stair? (I'd post an attachment, but it says "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached" when I tried :/)
And (I love how this is my 4th and..) the ability to capture and transport lifestock (IE: Pigs, Cows, Sheep). Possibly traps, such as hogties!
Quit running the game off of Java, too!! It kills peoples computers. Java sucks for these types of things.

I've been thinking about "solar panels" as well. If you don't mind, I'm going to make a standalone topic just for that. For future reference, it's better to post individual ideas in individual threads. It makes it easier to discuss and critique. It's also good to flesh ideas out to an extent, so it's a full-blown idea instead of just a random discussion topic.

Don't pick your nose with a pickaxe. Use a shovel.
I also think solar panels would be quite useful. I put some ideas for them here. Aside from that, rather than posting a random collection of underdeveloped ideas, you should post either one well fleshed out idea or an organized collection of them.
Want to capture and transport animals? Minecart. Hell, it even traps birds from Zhark's MO' Creatures, somehow.
It traps monsters too, well, those that would fit (meaning not spiders. Not likely to trap octopi, but haven't tested).
Question is, why would you want to transport animals?
The only useful one to transport so far is the cow, because you could have a single cow for constant milk for cake.
I suppose the same could be said of the chicken, for the eggs, but since the eggs themselves can hatch into chickens, they're sort of like a transportation device of their own.
Pigs, you have to kill them to gather their pork chops, so killing them on the spot or carrying them to have the meat later? might as well just kill it right away.
Sheep, as far as I know, don't grow back their wool, so once you've sheared them, they're useless, since killing them doesn't give you anything, so transportation for those is also unnecessary.
Solar Panels seem useless to me. I mean just get a RedStone Torch and you got energy. No need and also the Solar Panel seems a little too modern.
By solar panels I mean a block that powers redstone when it is hit by sunlight. Nothing sleek, modern, or fancy. I don't know what the original poster means by it though.
Could just be called a Sunstone, which would be found in the Aether.
When enough light hits it (not just sunlight, as that would be hard to code. Light is light. Maybe 10+?), it activates as a power source, which would then activate redstone.
It could be used if you don't have a watch/clock to alert you if the sun is up or down, depending on wether the redstone has power to it or not.
The next time an authority asks me, "What could possibly have given you such a lack of respect for the value of human life?" I will respond, "Sir, have you even BEEN to the internet?"
Sunstone powerred minecarts? meaning they constantly push, but only if there's enough light? and higher light amounts = more speed? Could be interesting...

"Solar Panels" is just a working name, of course.
That recipe's WAY too simple, by the way.

Notch is only familiar with Java. He isn't going to recode the entire game.
