We all know 1.19 is one of the biggest updates yet, it offers the deep dark and several other features. But most importantly, it includes archeology. We also know that we can find items via one special feature when it drops. I'd like to show you all one simple yet extremely lore-related feature. Ancient books! Ancient books have a small chance of generating inside of desert temple chests, stronghold chests, and a small chance of obtaining one from the new feature coming with it as well.
Ancient books hold several logs and records about mysterious events which could assist the player in their archeology-related aspects. They can also come in different variants such as having some blank pages or faded text. But most importantly, it's supposed to uncover the storyline and history of Minecraft itself. Minecraft has fossils, strongholds, uncanny achievement name choices and other strange things.
Strongholds are built to withstand dangerous events. The fossils on the other hand are bigger than the Ender Dragon itself. And when you kill the Ender Dragon, you get an achievement for freeing The End. So why shouldn't the players and the playerbase itself get to know some pieces of the lore? That's the reason why I've come up with this idea. Thanks for reading this.
Archaeology was confirmed to not be coming in 1.19.
In any case, I'm against any addition of lore to the game, because the whole point of it being a sandbox experience is that you create your own lore. Mojang mentioned during Minecon that one purpose of archaeology was to exist as another avenue for players to create their own stories, and I think that the focus should remain on that. As such it is highly unlikely that anything lore-related will ever be added.

LP series? Not my style! Video series? Closer, but not quite. Survival journal, maybe? That's better. Now in Season 3 of the Legends of Quintropolis Journal (<< click to view)!! World download and more can be found there.
