hello my fellow minecrafters. I have an idea The Lightbulb! To use instead of torches for light. or glowstone.
It would be crafted like this. =glowstone dust

So it would look better for homes rather than torches. and not as hard to get as 9 glowstone dust for one blocks. it only
costs one. One iron and glowstone dust shouldn't be to bad. I don't know if it should be like maybe redstone. Tell me what you think. Also it would have the light level of glowstone. And when you place it, you can place it like normal torches on walls. But when you place them on the cieling, they are upside down like in real life. They would then be able to be hooked up to redstone and with the flick of a switch. light. Imagine its turning dark in your smp server and you don't have it lit and very well. Then bam! The city lights up and everyone is safe! I was also thinking using them to make bigger ones. That put light over a larger area. Maybe like this: =Lightbulb.
Like street lights kinda. Better for lighting up towns in smp. So reply if its good and post more recipes for more lightbulb related items. This would kinda be like notch's lantern exept, it would be easier to make probably.

I built my own computer in 2012, Specs are: Intel i3-2100, Amd radeon 5570, 8GB of ram, 500GB Hard drive, Antec One case, Z77A G43 Motherboard, OCZ 600W PSU. Windows 7 64 Bit.
Also I have a youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc9Bi9r4UPZbAWyuRKBJeoA
I like to play games on steam like Garry's Mod and robocraft.
This has been suggested before and notch has said he is adding lanterns, similar to this idea, please read the guides on how to make a suggestion before posting
there now it takes up less space and can be made in your 2x2 grid

Welcome to the forums, by the way. I'll be your brutally honest dream-crushing critic for...Well, your entire stay. So make your ideas good ones. [Diamond]
How about suggesting that lanterns be toggle-able by redstone?
They don't exist yet... That might be pointless, they may already do react to redstone. But we can't know until they are released or Mojang gives specific spoilers.
Mojang employees probably read this forum, if you can get enough support for it they may implement it.
Well I don't think that the term "light bulb" should be used.
Also if it was a ceiling lighting fixture it would be upside down which makes uses coal pointless, however by keeping the stick and putting glowstone dust you can make "glow sticks" which would be a bit dimmer than coal torches but they can be put on walls, floors and ceilings. They will be the same size as a torch and they will not emit flames but instead little sparkles like the redstone dust does.
Now if minecraft lighting ever reaches a point of moving light then they could also be the medieval version of the flash light. Also, glow sticks aren't necessarily a heat based light source so they could be used in water, with the ability of moving light (if ever implemented) these could be used both underwater and on land. Win-win.
