I just had an idea. What if Minecraft allowed you to make.. a map? The concept is simple. Open your craftingtable.
Okay, now set up a quill like this (pretend the black block is an ink sac):

After that, make the actual map like this (pretend the gray blocks are pieces of paper):
The map will be blank at first. But as long as you're holding the quill and map both in your inventory, it will slowly "draw" the map as you adventure your world. The map is displayed by holding the map and right-clicking.
The next time an authority asks me, "What could possibly have given you such a lack of respect for the value of human life?" I will respond, "Sir, have you even BEEN to the internet?"
