I had an idea of a fire detection block, it can be a half block in size, but it could detect if fire was 5 block near it.
i am not sure about a crafting recipe yet, but wen it detects fire it could output a redstone sidle to all 4 sides
demonstration: = Fire detection system = range = redstone
[] = Not powered
Fire range:
Powered sides:
[] []
[] []
*And it could power Redstone under it*
I would love input, and/or changes to the idea, thanks
Umm, I don't really see too much purpose to this, but I guess it could be handy. I'm neutral with this idea.
Possible crafting recipe?:
it would be a good multilayer thing, or some mods have mobs that cause fires... it has a lot of possibility with Redstone, u could have fire near it, then wen it detects the fire it activates something else, good for rune Goldberg machines...
Couldn't you just wire redstone attached to a redstone torch, to a switch on a wool block, so when the wool is burned the switch would break causing the torch to go out?

Muncher is right, listen to him, he can cure the blind and make paraplegics walk.

ya but, thats kinda no fun, and plus, if your home is burning, will u be able to put it out? no, this could activate a water system in your home and put your home out, faster then u know its on fire...

Actually, with a little more redstone you could make it so the redsotne activates when the lever is broken, causing a block of tnt to go off. The tnt is blocking water so the water flows through the tnt. The TnT does not destroy blocks because of the water. Boom, water system.

You can always just hook up the redstone to the water directly. There's a tutorial on how to do it on youtube somewhere.
