Otherwise, I'd rather see either a new thrown weapon - chakram for example, or a muscle-powered launcher-weapon - sling for example, or a magical launcher-weapon - fire charge shooting rod for example.

The problem with the musket is that, apart from Mojang explicitly having rejected guns, is that such a weapon would be rather useless: Not only are bows ridiculously powerful due to how Power scales up damage while being cheaper and easier to obtain (Admittedly, going by that, the crossbow is also reduced to being horribly situational as well,), but also the game overall provides few situations where a slow-firing hard-hitting weapon would really be useful (Pretty much the only cases I can think of are Ravagers, Iron Golems and the Ender Dragon, hardly common situations and still handled with ease with the current weapons).
That said, I think it could help to use several ammo types: In real life, muzzle-loading firearms were less specialized than current ones, so, for instance, it was fairly common for muskets to use shot as well, with "buck and ball" (A single large musket ball together with several smaller pellets) as a fairly common ammunition. That way, you could have a weapon that can do several things at once and, in particular, a weapon that fires shot could be great on harder-to-hit enemies and flying mobs like Phantoms, Blazes and Ghasts.
alot of people already stated that Mojang denied adding guns to the game, but I think that the game should generally try to stick to a fantasy medieval theme, and I feel like they haven't done enough with Magic in the game yet, aside from potions and potion arrows there's not much, so a magically embued ranged weapon could be a substitute, perhaps with similar mechanics? Or have abilities outside of only being a weapon? idk.
I gotta agree with tow4rzysz; Mojang has made it very clear they don't intend to add guns to the game. However, that doesn't discount other possibilities for new projectile weapons. Boomerangs, new additions to bows, throwing weapons, spears... personally, I've always thought chakrams would be cool, if a bit obscure.
Also, bows and crossbows already have a fair bit of modification based on enchantments alone. (I initially thought crossbows to be a bit redundant, but it actually makes for a really interesting strategic choice.)

Trident kinda takes niche of short spears (not pikes), especially thrown ones, as well as javelins.
For bow, I think it's in general good as it is, with 1 exception. It deserves a scope. More than a crossbow, actually, due to bow delayed and single-target damaging mechanism, compared to instantaneous and crowd-control character of crossbow. The only thing somewhat difficult would be to implement a rangefinder with proper falloff measurement, without turning it into aimbot-lite that would completely take away need to compensate for falloff by the player himself/herself.
Well, an alternative is adding rocket-arrows that fly like oddly fast fireworks but deal piercing damage... Or amethyst tipped arrows with minimum falloff.
Rocket arrows are a real thing, one example is Korean Hwacha, although Chinese had developed them back in X century - they are about as old thing as Poland. And technically, they are not yet guns, it was fire lance that was the first gun, and it had yet to stem from rocket arrows.

A fire lance? What's that, shooting things on fire?
We have fire charges and dispensers for that, plus the utility of flame and fire aspect enchantments more generally.
Fire lance is a spear that has a tube filled with gunpowder and some debris strapped to it. It was a first real gun, since the gunpowder exploded all at once, and its purpose was to give a spear attack big shock factor, since whatever they attack gets shotgunned to the face before actual melee.
Fire arrows, or rocket arrows, were propelled by gunpowder via prolonged burn rather than one explosion, hence they are not guns.
Neither is incendiary (fire charge, flame, fire aspect) weapon, they both relied on mechanical piercing damage.

I like the sound of this in general (if gorey), but I don't see this making its way into Minecraft. It's a bit complex.

if your answer's more than a paragraph, chances are I'm going to skim it at best. Keep it succinct for me please.

Fire Lance will precisely never become a part of Minecraft because it's a 100%-blooded gun.
Rocket Arrow to accompany a Bow Scope is a different thing, I wonder what you think about this one though.

Not sure what that means, can you elaborate again? I'm not into guns much. If you just mean bows being able to fire rockets like crossbows, sure, I don't even know how to craft rockets and their firework stuff etc so out of my range.

I mean, an arrow which deals single-target projectile-type damage, but flies in straight line like firework does, except it flies as far as range-3 fireworks, at twice the velocity. It would be used by bow and crossbow alike, just like all other arrows, but it would be extra useful for scoped bow because of straight-line it would fly exactly where you aim it, never leaving the field of vision of the scope.
However, it would not have spectral nor tipped variant unlike normal arrow and after gunpowder runs out it would drop a normal arrow that would need to be crafted into rocket arrow again.
Normal fireworks would be as they are now - exclusive to crossbow, slower moving, and dealing AoE explosive damage.

Bow: lowest damage - highest rate of fire
Crossbow: slightly higher damage/more accurate - lowest rate of fire
I think a flintlock musket would be nice, maybe giving it a higher damage than an arrow, but making the recharge much slower.
I have made some possible crafting recipes that might suit the idea.

Do you think it would be nice to have in Minecraft?
This idea will never see the daylight. Mojang explicitly announced they want no guns in this game. https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360005029872-Previously-Considered-Suggestions

Just use rockets on crossbows, it's the same thing

There has also been a flamethrower in the past.
It was basicly a syringe (hope that's the right word) containing a flameable liquid with a candle in front of it.
No, i don't want that in minecraft. I just wanted to add another antique weapon to the list.

That sounds like with some changes it could make a decent proto-drill.

How does an antique flamethrower resemble a drill?

It would be weird having guns in the game. I think a more fantasy solution would be better.
I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!

Actually guns where invented in the medival. They where more cannon like, but the more efficient they got, the more swords became useless.
The thumbnail of this video may look disleading, but shadiversity talks quite a lot about medival weapons (and guns) on his channel.
The first minutes of this video cover this topic. Also guns can fit into fantasy games. Think about the warcraft games for example.
Anyway mojang won't add guns. Never.
