This is something that came to me as something to fill a "nich" of sorts. This also gives leather, a rather bare bones item, another use. Best of all, it uses no new materials. The basic recipe goes like this:
=leather
This will give you an object that's one block wide, and half a block tall. It looks like a brown piece of leather stretched over some sticks and pegged into the ground.
What it does:
When you jump while standing on the trampoline, you jump a full one and a half blocks higher.
When you throw an item onto the trampoline, the item will be thrown up, also keeping the momentum/direction in which they were going.
When you fall onto the trampoline from a height that can damage you, you will not take damage. However, if you fall from a height, say, ten blocks, then you'll break through the trampoline and loose about two blocks of your speed. Trampolines destroyed like this are simply reduced to sticks. About three.
Why it should be implemented:
This simple item easily fills a nich that's missing from Minecraft. in fact, if fills a few, and makes use of a very basic item. It can be used a way to get up higher, break falls and transport items.
Limitations: Cannot be place on the ceeling or have a block placed on it. Other then that, it can b place on the ground and on walls.
Please give me your feedback and tell me if you like it, or give criticism. Just so you know, I will not justify posts that simply say "Use search" or "This is stupid." I took the time to search for this topic, and I'm not going to justify pointless posts.
Leather is kind of a tough material, slimesballs kind of seem like the more logical choice (I imagine slime would get very rubbery if you heated it.) Slimes like to bounce. Fap, fap, fap.

I imagine slimes being more sticky and acidic. The reason I suggested leather is because leather is, in real life, durable and flexible. Furthermore, leather in the game doesn't have many uses other then making armor. Leather is a bit more common then slime balls are. Plus, the object I've seen before, the bounce pad, will continuously bounce you rather then stop your fall. This will give you more control, and it also fits the theme of the world more.
I would use iron instead of sticks. Not only is it harder to craft but trampolines give bounce using springs on the side. The part you jump on isn't that elastic.

It doesn't have to be fully realistic. The reason for it to be easy to make is that it's a useful item, and the low tech approach fits in with minecraft. The cowhide will have enough spring to it to give you an extra boost in your jump, and act as a break for your fall.
I don't see any reason for it to be too hard to make, an simply putting iron bars into the recipe to make it "harder to make" doesn't make sense.
I'd like this to be simple to make, but it needs more leather and fewer sticks.
I think this: Trampoline: []
would work better. it's not overpowered because it only works from 10 blocks and lower, and I think this matched the height for the trampoline better.
Stats: 1 1/2 height added, 10 block fall
Here are two "powered" versions: Springy Trampoline: [] []
Stats: 1 1/2 height added, 30 block fall
The Bonus: this trampoline works from 30 blocks without breaking.
Large Trampoline/Large Springy Trampoline
This one is harder to explain, but here they are:
This one isn't "crafted" but placed. If you place four trampolines together in a square you get a "Large trampoline" similar to how two chests make a large chest. This works with both versions, but only if four of the same type of trampoline are added together.
THe Bonus: This adds 5 to the max height for breaking, and adds to the height of the bounce by 2. This is dangerous because falling off can hurt, so this is more for fun and more more getting to higher places in a slightly different way. It would be good for puzzles and chalenges more than regular use.
Large:
Stats: 3 1/2 height added, 15 block fall
Large Springy:
Stats: 3 1/2 height added, 35 block fall

Not exactly. The idea is that it's a piece of leather stretched out on a square of four sticks and then having that mounted onto four other sticks and placed on the ground.

Two problems with that. One, it's over powered. Two, simply having iron attached to a recipe doesn't justify it being any stronger.

A double chest doesn't store more then two chests apart, it simply gives you access to both chests' inventories. Simply putting four trampolines together won't justify making it more powerful.
I imagined the trampoline differenly. Anyway, I agree that 30 is overpowered, but I think there should be some kind of higher powered one similar to my other idea by adding something. just 15 would be better. Then again, I don't care much for jump height because by the time I fall that far I'd just be using water...
I guess I should just say that what I would like more would is some higher jump height version. I see how the 4 together would be a problem, because I myself might want some kind of "bounce floor" and I don't want to jump too high. I'd be puting a lot of the trampolines together, and I'd get the extra jump height I didn't want. SOMETHING needs to be made to add height to a jump... once again more for puzzles and challenges.

After some time to think, I believe that, should four(or even two) Trampolines comes together, it will take on the appearance of a larger trampoline.
Another thing the trampolines can be used for are awnings, mostly for aesthetic purposes as well. To that end, I also believe that the trampolines can be dyed as well.
