I think they should also be able to be placed on walls to be used as wall clocks to make sure you can tell the time without having to waste a backpack slot all of the time. (Not that watches are a waste of a slot, but if you don't want to carry one around all of the time.)
I live in a cave i found near my spawn. It has a natural protective overhang and I have to run outside to see how long I have until nighttime or daytime.
I also understand that you can negate the nighttime check by sleeping in a bed, but if i want to go out resource hunting, I want to know if I have enough time to do so or not.
The clocks would be made exactly like or similar to this.
= Watch
You would also be able to change the color of the clock for added style if you wanted to...at the cost of materials that you might need.
Colors that would probably be used if coloring the clocks would be added:
- For the original color of the watch - Darker than wooden planks - No iron shine, but still grey.
Colors that could possibly be. Considering we get a way to craft colored wood-like blocks:
- Would look similar to diamond, but wouldn't have a diamond shine to it.
A really good idea.
Would we have to craft the backing for the clock? Say surround a watch with wood planks for a wood backing? Throw in a redstone for a Cuckoo Clock?

No point in not having this.
That would be kinda cool, especially if you wanted to have a audio queue to tell you when it switches day to night.
But the first step would be to get wall clocks in first.
If we need a backing, lets think of things now.

I'm thinking you would be able to use these materials in the same fashion as the wood to make the clock colors.
- This would be different than teal wool by having a shine around it. - For the original color of the watch - Darker than wooden planks - No iron shine, but still grey.
Not so sure about the wool backing, but that's the basic idea. Iron clocks could have a steam whistle warning, gold a little melody, and toggle the warning with a right click.

I didn't know that. Problem with not using twitter I guess.
Good to know.
Okay, I'm not going to hunt down the post because I was linked to it by someone else and I hate searching through Twitter, but..
According to Notch, the idea of mounting tools onto the wall is already being considered/worked on. So let's see how that comes out first. You'll probably be able to mount a watch.

I'm almost 100% positive that this have been suggested before but i'll suggest it again anyways

Well then, maybe we should have a way to make a solid block (similar to wood) that can be colored with dyes so we could have a higher color choice with them. Limiting it to brown, darker brown, grey, shiny grey, gold, and light blue would get boring after a bit.

Ah, wouldn't know that. I don't really check his twitter. It's mostly because I avoid that site like the plague. Not that I find anything wrong with it, I just hate bandwagon sites.
I've seen wall mounted clocks suggested before. People suggested setting an "alarm" time which creates a redstone charge. You could then connect the redstone to note blocks.

So you joined the bandwagon of people that avoid Twitter for being a bandwagon site?
