Hello, I got some new ideas today! I was thinking and I don't really know how much you guys will like this but, I know a few things that would be so cool to see in Minecraft. So without further ado,
Opal.
This is a pretty common ore I'd say. (I'm not very good with rarity so please correct me if I'm wrong.)
Opal comes as a block once mined. (like cobblestone, obsidian etc.)
And Opal is supposed to come in many colors, so then the color you get when mined is completely random but then, you can dye it once you wash it off with a bucket of water.
That can be done by the following, placing a block of Opal then right clicking it with the bucket and as a result the ore will be a white Opal. Then you can dye it. (Same way as wool except replacing wool with opal.) Also if you have any Opal in your inventory since it is a gem and this follows with the rest, your armor (if any) will be slightly tinted with teh color of your opal. (If two or more colors are present it will be random out of those colors.)
Ivory
Ivory will appear as a white flint too. 3 makes a block.
Ivory is pretty rare just because you can only find it on the first 20 layers of ground level. So where ever the grass is above that spot it can only be within 20 blocks. It is also decoritive. This may also be used in the crafting of Ivory arrows. They can be made like so:
Ivory ]" title="-<->" />
They deal 1/2 more dammage but have a 10% chance of breaking when being shot (wether into or not into a mob.)
Broken ones cannot be used. They can then be recovered but only once another Ivory block is used to repare it. Like this:
Ivory
[>>-i>] (broken ivory version)
They are also decoritive and will probably have some other uses.
Moodstone
Purpl-ish color. This is as a bit less rare than iron. It will be able to be crafted into a Mood ring. Before we get into that though, the moodstone at first is like an ore then after being smelted can be turned into a gem. Then once being placed like so to create a mood ring:
[] Mood ring [] []
[] []
Can be used on mobs (damages it very slightly though.) gives a statistic of there health and on wolves (untamed) will tell how many bones it needs, along with it's relationship with you. The longer the better and the more his health rises maybe?

It's not that I hate you, it's just that, if you were on fire and I had water... I would drink it
Ivory does, that's why you find it slightly below ground level. Opal I thought it may need some more uses... They say crushed it can make dust, so maybe it can have some sort of abillity like redstone. So maybe it can be like a redstone torch with a mix of a regular one. So then the once placed it has the light of a torch but, like a redstone torch it can be toggles on and off. (Some cool chandeliers!) However the Opal torch would not be able to carry a flow of power. You would have to turn it into a dust though, maybe smelting it? I also don't know if I mentioned this but Ivory can be mined with stone and above same with Opal and Moodstone with Iron or +.

Opal:
Redundant of wool.
Ivory:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought ivory came from an animal such as an elephant tusk or rhinocerous horn?
Moodstone:
The moodring would actually work well to show health in SMP. The wolves idea sounds good too.
I'm not trying to bash your ideas, I'm just saying what I think.
