going to dive right in. when holding the left mouse button for powering up the arrow four boxes will appear next to your health bar. when the boxes are fully colored you have 30 seconds to shoot until you unload the arrow. i believe the current drop ratio is 1:14 which means for every 14 blocks the arrow will drop one block. it will take 8 full seconds to fully charge the arrow, those 8 seconds wont count against those 30.
Power at ground level
power for one bar: standard of what is now drop rate 1:14, speed/velocity:28
power for 2 bars: 1.5x damage, the drop rate 1:19, speed/velocity:38
power for 3 bars: 2x damage, the drop rate 1:25, speed/velocity:50
power for four bars:2.5x damage, the drop rate 1:32, speed/velocity:64
angles,velocity, and gravity!
downward velocity formula: v=bg v= downward velocity b=total downward of blocks g= gravity, 1.32 in numbers
the total of blocks traveled will add 1/128 or .0150625% more damage to the damage of the standard damage (on the ground pointing the bow 90 degrees). velocity will start in effect as soon as the arrow starts to drop
upward velocity formula: V=s3/1.32(per block going up, aka D)-a. s=speed of arrow when launched. V= speed at climax. for example: 192/1.32(D is the amount of times)-a= speed at climax
facing upward angles formula: D=ap D=distance to climax a=angle p=power ratio used. for example: 135x1/32= 135/32= approximatively 4 blocks more distance till climax.
facing downward angles formula: j=Y+f~8=(a/2-gPv) J=total damge Y=damage g=1.32 P=power level for example: 22.5-1.32x4x13.2=32/8=4+Y=J. since i don't know how many hearts of damage the bow does normally, i can't specify. this is also roughly guessing
putting it together
since facing downwards is self contained it can do that in one step. while firing from above 90 degrees there are multiple steps. it's solved like this This is a example
step 1find climax point:135x1/32= 135/32= approximatively 36, pretend theres 36 blocks stemming off the crosshair, and thats were the arrow will start to fall
step 2 calculating velocity at climax: 64x3= 192/1.32 keep dividing by 1.32 for 1/10 of how many blocks you went, round up if 3.5 or more or round down. 192/1.32= 63
step 3 calculating downward velocity and damage: 30x1.32=40 40+63= 103O with O being speed measurement for every O the arrow does 1/128 more damage or .0150625 in decimal if you like. and if it hits it does the base damage along with that added to it.
The main point of this is to improve bows and to get rid of the ability to spam arrows which make mob killing easier and to me just seems ridiculous. let me know of anyway to improve the formulas or add new formulas. Please Comment!
I think a bow made of bones would make the arrow shoot straighter longer, but lower the damage by 0.5. I don't think this is all needed, but it is a good thought.

I am just a guy looking for good suggestions that are original, creative, and match the theme of Mine-craft. I have some mob ideas that I need help forming which is a community project.
5-shots will kill ANY mob.
Rapid fire potential (rapid clicking)
Easy arrows, making is easy, farming is easy
Seriously how are they not OP?
I can empty a full stack of arrows in a few seconds. Nothing can survive. I agree with them being OP. I dislike bringing realism into Minecraft and hate when other people complain about it, but if we were to make it so it takes 2 seconds in between each shot that would be better and lowering their Over Poweredness.

yes thats what i intend to do with this thread while adding some positives with it
Bows should be nerfed, just not that nerfed, I would think that a second per damage bar sounds a lot more reasonable
In general I do like the suggestion though

i would like to find out the exact amount of hearts the bow does so i can improve it
2 hearts
bows don't need improving really, they need extreme nerfing

if you're going to say there not OP give a legitimate reason.

a pound of stones will drop just as fast as a fully loaded semi truck.
perhaps I just misread what you wrote, then?
