I think it would be a great idea to add more varieties off bricks, the problem with this is that polished stones are crafted the same way as stone bricks are thus I would propose that you craft the Andesite/Diorite/Granite bricks using the polished version.
The idea is not bad and I don't exactly oppose it, but as far as I see the polished variants are meant to fulfill the place taken usually by bricks as "refined" material - look, they are used as complementary blocks to regular stone bricks in underwater ruins.
Also, andesite has very similar shade of grey compared to regular stone, so its bricks would barely differ from the regular stone bricks.
What we could have, however, are cracked and/or mossy variants of polished ADG.

Axes and crossbows - taking mobs out
I'd rather Mojang fix the issues with bugs in the game before adding in newer materials to build with
also what is the point of all this if it is going to get destroyed by some randomly spawning hostile mob that gets introduced in the future? something not affected by lighting?
I do agree with adding in andesite, diorite and granite bricks in principle
But I am concerned about the future development of the game and where it is going.
I think it is unfair that some of us be forced to play on peaceful to avoid all that when we already have established game mechanics that work well and allow us to do something about monsters without having to cheat or lower difficulty settings.
What if we use these diorite bricks to build an ancient temple, while using vines and moss to make them look old,
and then Pillagers get a buff that allows them to dismantle them?
work ruined.
this puts us in an awkward position, all these fancy new decor blocks being added mean nothing
if it is going to get destroyed constantly, and preventing us from being able to progress further in the game because a significant amount of our time is being taken up repairing these things.
Mojang isnt stupid. it knows how to deal with it's fans. they wont ever add something that destroys player buildings. if you're worried about all the suggestions of this type, just remember that they've been making these since the start.
about the suggestion itself, polished versions of the rocks are basically bricks already, and at max we get variants of those, like cracked and mossy versions

I see your point
Diorite bricks I am definitely onboard with though
building ancient ruins would be something I'd do if this ever got introduced
Perhaps somebody else would use them to build a house, idk.
But seeing as we have blackstone bricks, a black brick variant of stone bricks.
It would be nice to have white brick variants too.
Granite bricks would have a larger brick pattern than regular clay bricks, so its existence can be justified even as a decor block type imo.
And of course they'd look great for building sewers.

I don't know why you're fixating on this notion of block-destroying mobs and a gamemode meant for them in almost every thread. It's not being brought up all the time.

So far Mojang is restrictive with mob griefing, so stop worrying in advance.
Also, adding a bunch of crafting-only construction blocks with little outstanding qualities is a piece of cake for Mojang.

It's as simple as adding a different block ID with similar hardness and blast resistant values to stone, but giving them their own unique textures.
Of course the majority of mineral block items would be non flammable.
Granite, diorite and andesite bricks if they were ever added would also be non flammable.
Not much is changing here except the addition of a new set of decoration blocks with their own textures.
Compared to the Caves and Cliffs update, brick variants of diorite, andesite and granite is a walk in the park for Mojang to add.
I guess I feel sort of neutral towards adding new brick types. I've played with the Quark Mod installed before, and among other features it adds these new brick types, which are made by crafting w/ polished stone, or via. the stone-cutter. However, I did notice some problems, the biggest one being that diorite bricks are almost indistinguishable from regular stone bricks... except they're much easier to craft. Stone bricks are more difficult to make because they require refined stone, which makes them look more impressive given the difficulty of obtaining them.
On a second note, I didn't actually wind up using the new brick types that much, despite building with different stone types. I don't think it's a question of whether Mojang could add more bricks as much as a question of whether it's worthwhile. Admittedly, it could be said that I didn't use these new blocks because I was still accustomed to them not being present.
...So there's pros and cons. If new brick types were added, I'd want them to be different enough from stone bricks to be distinct. However, despite considering myself something of a builder, I don't think these new blocks are strictly necessary, particularly given that the only reason for their addition is more building materials.
