Makes one handheld light detector (could be called something else). This changes color based on what block you are standing on or what you are pointing at (TBD). It would be used to check whether or not a mob will spawn in that place, which is hard without smooth lighting and nearly impossible with (without finding torches and calculating...).
you did say that if the light level is high enough that alexandrite (spelling fail) that it would give off a redstone power.
i could make this an inverter to make lava change state so it would create a lava wall around my house when nighttime comes, epic
Posting again, but dang! This has so much potential for building traps, giving neat effects, and so much more! I really really want this to be added in.

I am just a guy looking for good suggestions that are original, creative, and match the theme of Mine-craft. I have some mob ideas that I need help forming which is a community project.
Minecraft needs a light sensor, but I have a better idea for implementing it: output a current equal to its light value. For example, a block in daylight will have a light value of 15, so a redstone trail of up to 15 blocks long will carry the current. A block with light level 8 would only carry current through a trail for 8 redstone blocks, and so on. That way, people can design circuits to detect any level of light by changing the length of the trail to the sensor.
I've posted this in many light sensor topics but nobody paid attention. :sad.gif: I'm hoping that changes.

Well I meant in REAL standards. Some people would prefer an Alexandrite ring over a Diamond, because it the color changing and how simply gorgeous they look when cut correctly.
As for the Cloaking Armor, I respect that. I wrote it knowing it likely wouldn't be accepted well, but I felt like there needed to be more to it than just Redstone. But please! If you have something else you could possibly use the stone for, tell me! I'd love to add it to the list.
At the moment, not really. I originally thought of the idea as the solution to the Light Sensor block people want, but then I tried getting creative with the "Color Change" idea, and made up the Cloaking device. So if you have any ideas at all, please tell me! I'm more than welcome to add a few new ideas to the list.
I honestly had my hand on one a year or two ago. Stupid thieves.
With the new system having different light types for natural and artificial lighting, this looks better than ever. Anybody on Twitter? Let's try to get Notch's attention.
Lol. No. Not arguably. ****ing COAL is more beautiful than diamond because diamond is just a hideous teal. I seriously think it needs aesthetic tweaking.
As to the suggestion, I would love a house that changes color with the day's progress. How would it look in crafted form though? I wouldn't mind it just working in ore form. The fragments in my walls changing color would look kinda cool****ing awesome. Especially if it gave off a changing light color, but as I recall, Notch has trouble with that.
BIIIIIIG NO to the armor. Not a fan of player camo in the slightest.

Look at my mod section in a bit!
Goddamn do I hate this name z_z
You have the colors backwards! It should be purple/black in no light, and Blue/Green in bright!
Simple fix, right?
Yea it's fixed...

Or would you have to build a dual layer of blocks?
Yes. It takes the color of the brightest light that hits it.
So if you line the inside of the construct with a different material, you should be fine!

Where's the better idea?

Ummm...Didn't you read what I wrote above?
Why does everyone think I don't have an avatar? Is there anyone who can see the one black pixel.
Please click the dragons, they need to grow. Also, my fully grown dragons can be found in my bio.
Also, this is begging for an up-to-date version of the mod to continue...
I made a new diamond texture
My thread.
And I am so happy this was plugged.
