I would like to suggest some lantern and lighting Ideas I had. I have looked through the table of craftable items in the minecraft wiki, and I don't see anything like what I thought up. The lighting options in minecraft are fairly limited, so I thought these might be fun additions.
1. Paper Lantern: 7 paper and 1 torch, with the paper in a box around the torch. This would provide about the same amount of light as a jack-o-lantern, but have white sides and bottom. You could hang these from ceiling blocks too. If you dyed them, you could make colour paper lanterns!
2. Hurricane glass lantern: an iron ingot in the top and bottom middle, a torch in the middle, and a glass block in the middle left and right. These would provide as much light as a jack-o-lantern as well, but would basically be a block with two dark bands on the top and bottom and a nice glowing center. For options, you could substitute the iron for gold.
3. Tiny christmas lights: redstone wire across the top three, coal along the middle three, making 2 strings of christmas lights. These would look like three small points of light, attaching to walls much like a sign does. if you plced many strings of christmas lights together they would link up into a line. For variety, you could add dye along the bottom, or just dye them once they're made, and the light points would shine in that colour.
Anyway, this is a completely cosmetic idea, but I'd really like to see a little bit more variety in the lighting I can make for my stuff. Torches in my epic treehouse kinda make me nervous :smile.gif:

That's not helpful.
I think that paper lanterns being able to be dyed is an excellent idea.
I like the Christmas lights idea as well.
