Why would Notch bother making this? Iron is abundant, and if the gold bucket can only be used a few times, no one would even bother keeping it if they found it. Iron buckets can be used forever. Gold bucket = pointless waste of time and code.

He means that whatever is held in the bucket can be used multiple times before needing to refill. HUUR DUUR

If time is money, then are ATMs time machines? Your mind has been blown.
Unlimited uses of the item in the bucket? Alright, I'll just get on multiplayer, make one of these bad boys, fill it up with lava, and start griefing the hell out of the server. Sorry, no support. Not even with 10 uses.

Oh. I miss-read that.
If you can magically turn one source of lava into ten/an infinite amount of sources of lava, then it is OP. You could just go to the nether if you want large amounts/unlimited of lava.
Also, by saying HUUR DUUR, you look like an idiot. Just my opinion though.
The New Nether suggestion implements a Golden Bucket. It can carry Midas Tears (which if attempted to carry in an Iron bucket, will turn it into a Golden Bucket) but it can't carry lava. As for a bucket with infinite uses, that's actually one of the options I proposed for the Enchanted Gold Tools with options of infinite uses both for empty or full buckets.
Enchanted Bucket (Empty) - Right clicking on any liquid will pick it up while still leaving the bucket empty (even lava). This only works for a single type of liquid, and trying to pick up a different type of liquid than the first type that bucket used will fail to pick up the liquid and revert the Enchanted Bucket (Empty) to a regular Empty Gold Bucket. This will last from the time the player first uses the bucket to the time that they switch to a different item or open their inventory. "Permanent" Enchanted Bucket (Empty) - Right clicking on any liquid will pick it up while still leaving the bucket empty (even lava). The "Permanent" Enchanted Bucket (empty) has the additional ability to even remove liquid FLOW blocks, though they'll fill back in if the source is still present and is still set to flow into that space.
Enchanted Bucket (Full) - (Made from enchanting any Non-empty Gold Bucket) Right clicking will place a water block without the bucket becoming empty. This will last from the time the player first uses the bucket to the time that they switch to a different item or open their inventory. "Permanent" Enchanted Bucket (Full) - (Made from enchanting any Non-empty Gold Bucket) Right clicking will place a water block without the bucket becoming empty.
Though it only has infinite uses for either placing water (not Lava or Midas Tears, which are both finite in supply and griefable), or picking UP liquid blocks infinitely, so it really is only a convenience that could be accomplished with 2 buckets and 2 water blocks, or by scooping up lava/water and trying to place it on a block that already has water/lava in it. The ability to scoop up both source and flow blocks makes the Permanently Enchanted Empty Bucket invaluable for cleaning up lava spills that have gotten out of control.

This is what I meant. It would be more convenient then having to refill it over and over. You could keep pouring it multiple times without having to refill.
There should be a golden bucket, that can only be found in dungeons or or crafted like thisL

That have either 10 uses or unlimited uses of whatever it is containing. (Haven't decided if it should be unlimited or 10.
Go, dear Notch boy, make it. *shoo hand*

I doubt that, but if so it would be completely over powered. Still sucks.
