No offense to anyone who came up with the idea of 1/8 blocks, but in my opinion, they should NOT be added. First off, if they were added, they would most likely spawn naturally when a world generates. That means that the blocky hills would be more smooth, we all know smooth and minecraft don't mix to well. And then, it would turn into a landscape without blocks, with round trees, no more blocks, ect. I like minecraft the way it is, and the 1/8 blocks is a great idea but should not be added.
Why did you have to respond in a new suggestion where your criticism would have been perfectly welcome in the suggestion thread itself?
PLUS, myself, and everyone posting on the suggestion does not want smooth terrain generation. As stated before, if we wanted it, we'd do it ourselves.
If you have a problem with it, say so in the thread. There's nothing to fear of an honest opinion. This just seems like you're hiding from it. There are plenty of people with objections to many ideas. As you have guessed, my opinion differs from yours on this regard, doesn't mean that we can't discuss it, just make sure you do so in the RIGHT PLACE instead of spamming the board.
...Dude, I might not like 1/8th blocks, but you don't see me making a thread flamming them....I'm thinking you got your inspiration from the Counter Aether Idea....we are gonna see a lot more hate threads now...

I don't know about beaten to death, surely beaten sorely. Still the attitude is still generally favorable and compromises have allowed improvement to the idea.

So I could get a focused discussion in one thread than have like 2 people respond in another
1/8th blocks just doesn't make sense in the file size needed to support them. Not sure why you made a new thread about it unless it was brought up multiple times (to the point of annoyance) but whatever.

The problem is we are discussing your opinion, which isn't a discussion. I appreciate your honesty on the matter, but keeping all information in a thread is the best way to do things. I try my best to respond in kind to all those that have an issue with the suggestion. I may have been shortsighted and missed someone, I can assure you this is all on accident. If you feel your issue has been missed, simply quote the message and resubmit it and I'll be sure to catch it again.
Also, it is poor taste to divide a suggestion into 2 parts; if you disagree with your sentiment, post it in the thread devoted to it instead. All questions can and will be answered there.
Yeah, if they spawned naturally, then it would take forever. You could craft them like half steps and stairs.

I am just a guy looking for good suggestions that are original, creative, and match the theme of Mine-craft. I have some mob ideas that I need help forming which is a community project.
Let me extrapolate. 1/8th blocks would simply be a CRAFTABLE item... the map generator would not change... at all... in any way... shape... or form... I rest my case.

Did I say that they would be natural? No. Next time read the entire post before you call someone an idiot, dumbshit.
Alright, this thread is devolving at a lightning fast pace. Let's kill the discussion before things get too wildly out of hand. I will happily house complaints and suggestions for improvement in the host thread and answer them as best I can.
Then I don't want to hear you complain about not having vertical slabs, top slabs, half-steps, or iterations of items not currently used.
eighth blocks solve these problems and provide incredible depth and detail into construction you would not HOPE to obtain through normal systems. Again, I don't wanna hear bitching because you're not getting enough detailing blocks as this solves the problem.
-facepalm-
Oh yeah, because adding in 1/8th blocks is TOTALLY going to make mojang change the game to where it has no more blocks.
Don't jump to conclusions. It will save your life.
