this thread is about using dyes to color water. when water is colored and placed it will be the color you made it to be and revert back to blue when picked up. the colors will not affect the properties of it
different colors
one ingredient:
yellow: add one green
purple: add one red
two ingredients:
red: add two red
green: add two green
black: add two inksacs
three ingredients:
orange:two red and one yellow or take red water and add one yellow
light colors: to make light colors simply add bonemeal to the buckets causing them to become lighter in color
for example:
red->pink
black->grey
purple-> violet
this post is truly for aesthetics and give some variation to the game instead of the general blue of water and orange/red of lava. there may be practical uses for it but notch should re-visist lava and water dynamics (since there weird) before being applied for practical uses.
Yes, but.. I think that that dyes should only be able to be combined with *a bucket of water* Squid Ink packs don't dye the ocean forever IRL, but making a green waterfall over my house, now that sounds grand. and a little disturbing. Can you make zombies espically fond of green water? Or creeps like black water or something like that.
But where I am going with this, you could more easily make light-gels and different colors of light. Then We could have a "dark-room" for a camera, an xray camera. Or we could have a red-light army camp. We could have blue landing lights for airships and gliders. We could utilize multi-color tinted red light torches, multi-output possible? A gel could be a cap placed on a torch either after or before placed, ok this reply turned into a full brain throw-up, my apologies guys. maybe ill pitch this gel-light idea for making different colored lights, though I suppose a Simple red-stone torch tune up could make use of the applications of a dark room and stealth level lighting.
I like multicolored beds, multiple options like a painting,
and colored icing cakes but what do you think of
-colored water or light to attract specific mobs
-gels for torches

this sounds good but it doesn't really go with my post all that much, search up on this and if you cant find anything related to this make a new post
Heh, that would be cool. Maybe it would take twice the dye though.

Hmm.
I'm not sure about coloured water, but how about coloured milk? Then, when you make a cake you get different coloured icing! Also, I want Multicoloured beds!
Great idea! How about only springs can be coloured, as those can be carried in buckets?
But I bet that 2 days after an update like that there would be 9001 creations that are, well, you-know-whats having streams of pee comng out
i have a feeling thats going to happen, while the springs idea is meh. the reason for that is that springs in real life are really light green to dark blue and it would be a eyesore on the landscape without adding any new blocks

Flower = Dye
Iron = Bucket of water or milk (water can be poured, milk can be used to make colored cakes)
Great idea, i'd put white water over a mountain to make it look like snowy peaks.
