Hello everyone. I myself love phantoms designs, and it just feels wrong that they are ignored. So, this is my idea. In large cages, you have chances to stumble across phantom nests. Phantoms will naturally spawn here, even if it is day time. Inside, there will be tall stalagmites that have nests on top of them. You could find phantom membrane in there from time to time, and if your lucky, a baby. Theses blocks can’t be moved. The phantoms will live in this area, sleep during the day, the whole stuff. I think it would be cute for you to be stumbling around a cave a finding this little thing with its wings wrapped around itself while it snored.
Another idea is an enchantment called “The Sleepless.” It would make it so Phantoms wouldn’t attack you, but like the name suggest, you can not sleep while you have an armor piece with this equipped.
I think the sleepless should be a curse and phantoms should remain hostile, or maybe two versions could exist, one bad one more neutral. Phantoms attack nothing but players so having them be neutral seems odd.
As for nests being immovable blocks, sure, but they shouldn't be unbreakable unless you have a good reason why.
Also, I agree that phantoms are underused in the game simply because sleeping is easy.
I have sightly simpler idea, biome variations where stronger undead, preferably with shields, and large quantities of phantoms spawn, regardless of insomnia, passive mobs don't spawn, and occassional black particles generate. Something similar to slime chunks.

I don't like to be punished for not using the bed, encauraging me to avoid danger becouse phantoms only annoy me.
What are your thoughts on beds? In my opinion, the game should actually encourage you not to use beds, not spawn in an annoying insomnia mob for not using them.

Phantoms are very od mobs indead. They're undead, so can't reproduce, and they also are attracted to insomnia. In my opinion, phantoms are hallucinations that the player has. But, if they are animals, these nests would actually be pretty cool. But I think there should be more of an incentive to go into them than just "cuteness" Maybe some sort of loot box that they guard. The enchantment is simple but sweet. I really like the idea.

Holy crap! That is something i haven't noticed since you pointed it down!
They burn when the sun rises. They are undead!!!
My opinion on beds? I can't say for sure wich thread it was, maybe "are beds overpowered?"
Anyway i agree, that wool should only be optained by sheering a sheep, not killing it.
Beds are too easy to be crafted.
But i disagree on removing beds from villages. Villages are peaceful oasis where the player can feel safe!
And villagers interact with beds, the baby villagers jump on them while the adults just sleep in the beds.
Minecraft is an easy game, so are the mobs. Villagers only sleep or walk around, while their babys actually jump on beds.
I'm only referring to what villagers visually do and that is very important imo. What villagers visually do makes villagers villagers.
I know that's weird logic but hey: I didn't make them. I just want to see them DO stuff.

That is also part of the issue though. Sure, villages are meant to be peaceful oases like you said, but they are far too common and hold like 5 beds each at the least.

Hey guys I'm James, I used to be a noob but now I'm not, I finally figured out how to use TextCraft so here's a banner for one of my suggestions.

Agree that the game needs incentives to not use beds. I would say:
-you need to have at least 1 natural/sun daylight level to use a bed (aka not be underground or in a deep building).
-mining at night gives you higher ore return on some ores, like fortune but less rewarding
-farming at night gives you similar higher returns, again at lower rates than fortune
etc
As for phantoms...being undead doesn't mean they can't reproduce (game logic), and also we don't know how many they are or where they spawn from...look at piglins and look how zombie pigmen used to come to be. Just an entire species turned undead, but undead doesn't necessarily mean organically destitute. Okay, enough about that.
I think a loot box should contain the enchantment in book form or on existing armour, maybe lighter armours like leather.
Also, it would be cool if nests were surrounded by powdered snow so you needed leather to get to them to begin with...I imagine phantoms might like cold environments given they are blue and purple hued and with thick wings and bodies.
I guess Mojang wants sleeping to be a routine part of Minecraft game cycle, at least to remind some of the more devoted players that they are human too.

What?
It doesn't even make sense.
Find me a farmer working at night, and explain how time of the day on surface is remotely supposed to increase your working efficiency deep underground, where is perpetual "night". That also means it's a place for mob hunts without phantoms being involved.

Dude, wild animal nest is not a storage silo, you know? Especially for humans.
I'm not seeing future for this kind of structure, especially considering that phantom AI goes nuts in enclosed spaces.

What? No, that's a terrible idea. These biomes are not gated at all, and world spawn could be in one of them, creating a frustrating experience where you get killed over and over again, or waste your first day running away from the biome, or waste the entire night in a 2x1 hole. And that's not to mention how in the early game, you'd likely get wrecked and have no way of recovering your items.
Challenging stuff should always only follow stuff which is comparably challenging.

Do you realize that the player is supposed to take cover each night and not brute force the way through? One can go mining at night by the way, and wood is accessible in the day.
In order to reliably combat skeletons without health loss iron is needed for shields.
Each longer fight risks instant death due to creeper blowing your rear.
So don't tell me that brute forcing early game is intended.
Moreover, I intend the biome variant to be rather small, of size of a half a dozen chunks, or maybe just one. Remember what I said about slime chunks?
And tell the running away issue to lads who spawn in Mesa, Desert and Ice Spikes biomes or on barren islands in the middle of the ocean and don't even have weapons to fight with in the first place due to lack of wood, and can't make such simple assets as torches, ladders or trapdoors.

But i think the enchantment could need 1 downside:
-Not compatible with mending
I don't like phantoms at all.
I don't like to be punished for not using the bed, encauraging me to avoid danger becouse phantoms only annoy me.
Give them their own little biome underground, make them become atmospheric!

I absolutly disagree with both ideas.
It's not difficult to build a safe place where you can farm and mine so this wouldn't encaurage you to face danger.
This just makes basecamping and mining more rewarding and efficient.
Also while it's nightime the holstile mobs can spawn on the survace.
I suspect that mining during night is safer because of this but i might be wrong.
Depends on how far you mine from the surface i think.
