I kinda like the Old Nether instead. If this was all added into the game, things would be like the Overworld. However these ideas are great, I have to agree with some of them. This kinda give an RPG feeling to me.
Omg PLEASE make the midas tears a mod or w/e i really want them in my game (im sorta sick of lava lamps in the side of my walls) just please make it :smile.gif:
But the Midas should have a few more things added
1) when deco items fall in eg + = Gold Flower eg 2 + = Painting with a gold frame
2) when mobs fall in they die and drop a statue eg + = Gold Creeper Statue
3) it should turn any wool into a rare glowing gold wool
Please create minecraft isnt fun without midas tears -psst make it compadible with mo creatures (ive always wanted a golden horse)-
I beat two super hostile maps, see of flame 2 and spellbound, have to finish more. Plan to do inferno mines for lulz and win when it goes out. Have fun!
I have some good news for grey and some kinda good news for those of this thread.
We’re starting the modding support on a small scale with 1.7. We’ll be giving the source code out to a very VERY small group of people before the release of 1.7. We’ll use those experiences to work out the final details, then we’ll get the modding api out as soon as possible after 1.7 has been released.

For Grey this means that his 2x2 mod will soon be able to be simply expanded instead of constantly updated.
And for the rest of you... I might actually be able to code this stuff (New Nether) into the game myself. I'd definitely need help in places (mob basics) but I could handle a fair amount.
Okay so that's out of the way, Grey what's the status on our OP? I'm GOING to change the title soon whether we have the properly linking OP or not.
I've been busy with work. I'm hoping to get some updates out by the end of the week though, but Yofreke is also pushing for a new release of Extended 2x2 crafting, so I need to devote some time to that as well.
So, i honestly love this thread.
Is there any mod development on this?If not, it could be possible to talk to the makers of the Aether collab. and see if they can make a duo of mods, including these ideas and the aether.
I know for a fact these mods would be so popular that notch would have no choice but to add them :smile.gif:
The aether modders are including some changes to the Nether from both this thread and the Nether Update.
And not to speak bad of them but I wouldn't want the idea changed at all when implemented and they've already changed the Aether plenty. I wouldn't really trust them on this.
I love it.
Just a few things...
I'm not a huge fan of mushraves (But that's just me) or freezers
Also glowsand can't work. At all. Due to the recent changes in Glowstone.
Also for netherraze and midas tears, well... no... just no...
And my biggest problem: Are new tools. There shouldn't be new tools. At all.
Also, maybe trolls should be lava golems? They have the same properties, but I think they just make more sence.
Also there should be maybe, Charred Skeletons? They're like skellies, but do more damage, have more health, fire faster, and could be immune to fire and lava.

Why not? The recipie could still make glowsand instead, and that could be smelted to glowstone.
I don't think I've ever mentioned this before, but I don't really like Midas Tears either. The old concept art for Netherraze looked like it could be the Nether's version of grass that would burn you, which I thought was an interesting concept.

This does not need to be the Nether Update. We need unique mobs, not ones just edited from Overworld ones.

Wait, so the Aether modders are still working on it? But the topic's been closed for a while now...

Thank you :laugh.gif: :laugh.gif:
my idea of the whole nether idea?
Probably the whole New Nether idea. Your idea might be hard to code; the Tears are only supposed to work on iron.
It also works on diamond, blood, and raze materials.

Oh yeah, those all come from ores, too. It said "ore materials" in the OP, I remember now.
Either way, that wouldn't allow golden flowers...

There was too much spamming in the thread so it got locked. It's supposed to be unlocked once the mod gets released.

Echollow is still on the front page, but I never found it to be good enough for the OP.
I LIKE the idea of monsters reacting to noise, and I LIKE the idea of something that accentuates sound so mobs from a further range can hear it.
But the implementation suggested, both description and overall concept, just does not seem right to me.
