Fine, how about the individual Ash dusts can be called Small Ash and the Blocks can be Big Ash (Sm.Ash and B.Ash) the half blocks of Ash can be called Medium Ash (M.Ash)
Seriously, Sabata, I know you might find the naming scheme corny, but when the stars align like this, you really shouldn't turn your back on it.
I could take this moment to try to brag about how I'm totally influencing Notch now, but I'm honestly just glad that he's thinking along these lines, no matter where he got the idea. It really is the most elegant solution and implementation, and elegance should never be avoided.
I saw the lava boat thing a long time ago, and naming the stuff that way is okay because you can reference ALL of them with just "Ash" but further reference them with their size.
It's just a coincidence the abbreviations make good descriptors.
No offence but i dont really like this. I agree that the nether is suposed to be well... the nether and not some mob hunting place where you can only get certain things. But i do like the idea of lava boats because i mean look... It's impossible to get through the nether's giant lava lake and portal compas is a good idea ive been trapped with a diamond pickaxe in the nether. Turned it to peaceful and couldnt find my portal.

The point of this was to help create a cohesive feel to MineCraft.
As is, there's 3 ways to survive in the Overworld.
1) Build
2) Fight
3) Flee (explore)
The overworld more than fills #1.
And before this thread was created, the Aether was thought up and that fills the #3 niche.
So this balances it all out with creating a realm you must fight to survive in.
hmm this nether looks good, but tell me something:exists a 3d model for durodium armors?
about weather,i think that theres shoud exist "fire rain"
fire rain:
fire that falls from the sky,its does set things on fire that kept exposed to the rain for 5 secs (exclude the natural mobs),and for his storming a red lightning hits the ground making a lava source appear where it hits, but if hit a ghast, the ghast stays with a red charging (like the creeper) and shoots fireballs with 0.5 secs of interval, also, his fireballs can destroy anyblock, except obsidian.
Thats the other guys.
And no doubt it looks exactly the same as regular armor, just tinted a different color.
2 things:
1 - i know,i just asked for the colour of armor,in a 3d model,i am nervous to see this suggestions be put into vannila.
2 - about durodium, you can armor with both durodium types (hard and soft) or just with the soft one?
1. Durodium should be discussed in the TNU thread or fish2's Nether Update/Mod thread, as it doesn't belong in TNN.
2. Soft durorium is used for armour and durodium blocks, hard is used for durodium sticks and durodium tools.
And no doubt it looks exactly the same as regular armor, just tinted a different color.
ooooh yeah, Even the bone armor just looked like recolored iron armor, which is just sad, since I was only toying around with an in game retexturing and managed to get armor that actually looked like bones.
Here, I'll find the youtube vid of a colored torch mod.
I remember wondering if colored lights were possible and finding that video before. XD
Does that mod actually exist? I can't seem to find a downloadable colored light mod.
my guess is he's still working on the code for how the colors mesh up when you have multiple different colored light sources. Either that or he's yet another victim of real life that had big plans that must now be put on hold.
Cool idea

New Nether doesn't introduce any Gremlins. Firehazurd has a cool Gremlin though, you could pull it up easy with a quick google search for "firehazurd gremlin"
are you talking about the Spiked Grem? They already are tame. They never try to attack the player, they just do incidentally. I'm really not interested in making it possible to avoid that, as much of their reason for existing is to drive home home how dangerous the nether is; even those creatures that aren't trying to kill you can still kill you.

I'm not entirely sure why a Grem would enjoy having lava poured over it.
Or what the benefit of simply removing it's damage capabilities is.
weather=it rains lava causing or .5 of a heart is shelter is not found can catch fire to wood and other flamable items and it can snow ashes can make sheets of ash and maby a craaftable ash ball that just inflicts 1 or .5 of damage when hit with it
I love all of those ideas! (on the first post) I really hope Notch has seen this, it would make the Nether commonly played again (I didn't play it after I was killed the third time).
The only thing I think could make it better is if an idea from my thread about Dogmen wandering and trying to control the Nether (with all of those creatures it'll be a lot more difficult for them).
On Topic: I think that lava floods would be interesting.
