on the Philosopher's Stone (frozen Midas Tears): maybe it would allow you to convert items to gold counterparts at will by putting it and the item in question next to each other on the crafting grid (the stone would get left behind, like a bucket)? It's pretty much a more convenient form of Midas Tears that has no effect on items held along with it in the inventory, so only what you want gets changed when you want it. If this is OP, maybe there could be some kind of limit to it, like losing durability after each use, or freezing a bucket of Tears yields a small number of one-use Stones?
It's not so much that it's overpowered, it's just pointless. Pick up a bucket of Midas Tears, put it on top of a block so it wont spill out anywhere, toss items into it, gold items come out.
Point, but last I heard, doesn't proximity to Midas Tears bear some risk of damage? Besides, a Philosopher's Stone would in theory be more portable and easier to use in the field than a bucket of Tears, if that matters.
A good weather could be that lava could make fire balls fly straight up out of it. These fire balls would be dangerous to those who use airships (made from ghast/air bladders and boats) because these fire balls do damage to anything they touch. They are also hazards to abestoskin boats. Fire balls don't damage ghasts. The diagram below shows how blocks stop fire balls and where fire balls appear. represents fire balls.
That's not a weather effect. That's a lava effect.

No, it just has a wide flow range. And theory is all well and good, but it's not the same as practice. All you have to do is pour it on top of a single block:
[] []
[] []
and because it can't flow over edges, and since it only dissolves blocks to the side, it will never spill over that block to be a danger, just toss your items through, gather the gold versions on the other side, it will be just as fast as the crafting grid.
How would the minecraft world even get polluted enough to have acid rain?
Sulfur dioxide (the gas that can form into sulfuric acid) is not created soley by the burning of coal and oil. It can be formed by... wait for it... volcanoes!

@Sum Ash
Firstly, what's with the name? Can't we just call it Ash?
If you say "sum ash" quickly, it sounds like "Smash" which is what the Ash block tries to do when a mob is under it.
Why don't we just call it ash, but refer to it in the tooltip as "some ash"?
I'm considering changing my mind on the whole "drowning" in ash thing. I think obscuring the player's view (like the pumpkin helmet) could be just as unique. Breathing in ash is probably more of a long-term health effect. Most player's probably won't survive long enough in the Nether for that to be an issue.

Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
I think Tunnel Mites should... you know... actually live in tunnels as well as Gloomwood forests.
Otherwise just call them Mites.
They can. They can spawn anywhere that is particularly dark. the reason they're called tunnel mites is because they can even fit through 1x1 tunnels. For that matter, all of Nether is basically one gigantic tunnel.
Okay, I just read the description and it seemed to imply that they only or mostly lived in Gloomwood forest.
If I recall correctly, the original suggestion said something about them actually tunneling. Here is the full original suggestion, I'm not sure if these basic traits are implied or you completely threw them out the window.

So what Minecraft is missing right now is a mob that is dedicated to scaring you. Something you don't want to be attacked by because you know it'll be freaky encounter, even if it isn't deadly. So I was getting a glass of orange juice and I thought of a sneaky spider-like mob that could stick to walls and roofs, not at all inspired by the spider that fell on my head while I was looking for cookies. It would try to stay in dark areas (even if there are torches nearby, it'll scuttle around in the dark patches). It would hiss at you, and best of all, it'd make a nice little shriek and drop on your head if you walked under it. Now I'm usually not a fan of getting scared, but I dunno, sounds like it might be fun.
Size: 1x1x1
Health: No more than two sword slashes with an iron stone sword. It's not meant to be a powerhouse, more of a kamikaze.
Damage: Drop on head maneuver is a two-heart attack, after that it either retreats or attacks with .5 heart hits.
Behavior: Hostile. Stays exclusively in caves, even at night it won't leave them. Will stay out of range of the player as long as possible, finding darkness and standing still until the player gets near. When the player gets too close, it'll scuttle away extremely fast, until it either finds another dark patch to wait in, or it can find a roof near the player. It'll hiss at you while it's idle. It's red eyes glow in the dark for a couple seconds before fading. This happens randomly, not constantly. When you're traveling down tunnels, you might just see a couple of eyes staring at you in the distance, then fade.
UPDATE: People seem to like the idea of these being able to tunnel. Now, as passive behavior this is a little useless, but lets say it can't find an escape route that leads to darkness, it can tunnel into a dirt wall if it has to. They also like to spawn in 1x1 caves.

It says they CAN be found in gloomwood forests, not that they are exclusive to them.

One of the suggested behaviors for the New Nether Tunnel Mite is that if you are near a planted fright bulb while a Tunnel Mite is aware of you, it will actively trigger the fright bulb to try to blow you up.

The Nether is one gigantic cave.

Gloomwood forests are the darkest areas in the Nether.
When the player gets too close, it'll scuttle away extremely fast, until it either finds another dark patch to wait in, or it can find a roof near the player.
In the Nether, there's always the possibility of finding a roof over the player's head.
It'll hiss at you while it's idle. It's red eyes glow in the dark for a couple seconds before fading. This happens randomly, not constantly. When you're traveling down tunnels, you might just see a couple of eyes staring at you in the distance, then fade.
Its eyes don't need to fade. If it turns its back on you, you wont see its eyes and that will have the same effect.

This only proposed that they MIGHT be able to tunnel into a dirt wall, and also pointed out that it would still be fairly useless. I'm not bothering to include that. Netherwurms tunnel, the Tunnel Mites just are suited for getting INTO tunnels.

I typed that and then pulled up the quote. Also, it says useless as a PASSIVE behavior- and slowly digging to get away is different from a constantly digging aggressive mob.
I think this Idea is good the way it is. Actually I think the Aether needs more work on it than this does. After all, this has more neat graphics and actually has an ore (Nether Raze). One thing this thing needs is a unique armor made of stuff from the Nether, not Nether Raze though because that would fry you alive. Maybe Blood Gems could or abestoskin.
Mushraves is a ridiculous name for a mushroom in the Nether. You complained a lot about how little was going into the appearance of the Nether in Zurich's thread, but this isn't a good display that you know what you're talking about. While they are useful to the end of make easy dye recipes, the original purple-orange-green Nethershrooms were a much better match for the feeling of the Nether. The same complaint goes towards the Netherraze tools. Zurich's original designs were just plain cooler and more fitting.
First of all, Mushrave is the PERFECT name for these things; it follows Existing Nether Naming convention (word that is descriptive of the block; mush from "mushroom", and word that refers to negative emotions or circumstances; rave as in "raving mad") and it alludes to the ability to use the mushraves to throw a RAVE PARTAAAAYYYY!
all of that made me suddenly think of Jmtb02's elephant rave, which includes raves and flashing lights! further idea support!
btw, i think the whole update/mod is a great idea. it makes it like another world, not just a miniworld.

And also the Weather probably doesn't last that long either. (I've yet to encounter weather)

Yeah, but there's nothing about them that implies that they should even be able to tunnel, particularly not through rock. They're called Tunnel Mites, not tunnelING mites.

How about when they fall onto a mob, Sum Ash panels obscure vision, Sum Ash Slabs obscure vision and take a bubble of oxygen away, and the Sum Ash Blocks obscure vision, remove a bubble of oxygen, and deal 1HP of suffocation damage to the mob. Vision and oxygen effects last until the player/mob has been out of the Ash "Fall" Zone for 3 seconds.
Again, the Nether Umbrella would allow the player to avoid these effects, but they'd still have to be careful in case multiple blocks of Sum Ash fell on them.
Just obscuring the player's vision isn't nearly dangerous enough. Plus with how high the ceilings are, it would be very easy for the Ash to miss entirely when it fell.

I meant that Ash Falls should obscure vision. Sum Ash/some ash blocks should definately be harmful.

Personally I don't think any Ash should fall if it's not in Block form.
Slates and Slabs make a nice visual effect for the ash building up, but beyond that it feels like you're trying to force functionality onto it.
Sure let them still be mined at the ratio you set, but really I feel like trying to force deadliness onto the smaller versions is pointless.
The Only thing you have to add to Ash to make it deadlier is that it triggers the fall of blocks next to it when it falls (if said blocks can fall).
Remember these aren't going to be in small patches. They're probably going to be in really large segments, and more than likely more than one block thick.
Triggering the "fall" of a slab or slate will just poof it into it's item form.
The layers, and ripple fall would make it more than deadly enough. Excluding inherent damage, suffocation, or blinding.
Most of your issues can be addressed simply by getting rid of the Panels. They really aren't necessary,(I was just hung up on them to parallel the snow better) and only make the transition from slab to full block that much weirder. Just having slabs and blocks makes things much simpler. One additional note to keep in mind is that Sum ash should not cause cascades. This would actually make things EASIER for the player, since the player would always come into range of the Sm'Ash at its EDGE, so all that really does is instantly get rid of all the Ash that could fall on the player as soon as they come in range. Traps don't work if the player only needs to activate the first trap to set off every other trap further ahead.

Oh, so wandering into an Ash "Fall" zone would obscure vision directly. I like that.
Since Sabata doesn't want the panels doing anything, that works out.
Ash Thermals:(got tired of calling them "falls" in quotes)
Ash Thermals are a unique weather effect where Sm'Ash particles rise into the air, like snow that has had its gravity reversed. Instead of accumulating on the ground like snow, Sm'Ash accumulates on the ceiling, and can actively build up multiple layers (first slab thickness, then full block thickness)
Sm'Ash will never accumulate more than a full block thickness during a single Thermal but when a Thermal ends, and a new one begins then the new Sm'Ash can build on top of old blocks left behind from previous Thermals.
When the player is in an area being affected by a Thermal, their vision will be obscured, similar to how the pumpkin functions, but with a random splotchier pattern.
If Sm'Ash has an empty block above it while in an area currently being affected by a Thermal, then the Sm'Ash block will dissipate into a slab, and a slab will dissipate into nothing. This happens at the same rate that Ash forms on the underside of blocks in the area (but the formation of ash on the ceiling does not depend on Sm'Ash blocks already being on the ground)
Sm'Ash:
Sm'Ash can be gathered directly off of the ceiling by the player if they use any shovel, but cannot be gathered by hand. Ash Slabs drop 2, and Ash Blocks drop 4, which are also the number of Sm'Ash needed to craft each type of placeable Sm'Ash Block. Sm'Ash Slabs come in both "upper" and "lower" varieties and will default to "upper" unless the player is aiming at the top of a block when placing one.
Sm'Ash has a unique property that it will default to function as a normal block, but will become a gravity affected block when a mob is anywhere above or below the block.(even if other blocks are in the way) A Sm'Ash slab will convert to a "lower" slab when it falls, and a "lower" Sm'Ash Slab will be "pushed" to the top of a stack of Sm'Ash blocks that fall on top of it, or broken into item form if non-Sm'Ash blocks fall onto it. If a Sm'Ash Slab falls or is "pushed" into another Sm'Ash Slab, they will combine into a regular Sm'Ash block.
If Sm'Ash block falls onto a mob, the mob will have its oxygen reduced by 2 bubbles. A slab reduces by 1 bubble. This effect will last until the player has gone 5 seconds without being hit by a Sm'Ash block or being inside of a Ash Thermal area. If a mob is buried in Sm'Ash blocks, they can suffocate the same way as being buried in any type of block.
****! amazing idea, im considering making that, if you havent made the mod yet though, how did you put all your ideas into the game already? ]" title="-<->" /> [>>-i>]
You have a lot of good ideas with a lot of problems attached to each of them:
Smog - Fire is all over the place in the Nether, not to mention that you're talking about it forming above lava. There would be no way for it to NOT explode, plus we already have acid rain, this would basically do nothing except the same thing in a cloud form.
Gas Bladders - One of the intentions is for Gas Bladders to act as a supplement to airships, rather than the only method of making them. The player should pretty much already have access to hot air balloons as a standard, but they would be slot, require coal/lava to fuel, and one of the most important balancers was that since they could be made from cloth, string and a boat, that there would be an inherent danger to flying them, namely the chance of the cloth of the balloon catching on fire from the hot air. Since Gas Bladders from a Ghast would be particularly difficult to obtain (both killing them and ensuring the gas bladder didn't fall into lava or disappear before the player could get to them) they should give more advantages, namely not catching on fire (ghast is immune to fire, so should its inside also be immune)
Also, the bone armor issues you brought up, I do generally agree, if you're going to call it bone armor, then the in-game model needs to look skeletal in appearance, but I'm fairly certain that's doable, and not even particularly difficult. It would be stupid to just recolor he generic armor to black. As for the insectoid issue, I don't see what you're getting at. The bones are just the demon/seared bone, so no connection to insects, and bone armor doesn't make sense for climbing either, that's one of the reasons I haven't actually settled on Bone Armor as a thing. It's just not difficult enough to obtain to warrant it doing anything different than maybe iron armor at the most.
Point, but last I heard, doesn't proximity to Midas Tears bear some risk of damage? Besides, a Philosopher's Stone would in theory be more portable and easier to use in the field than a bucket of Tears, if that matters.
