So what could take the place of Midas Tears? Perhap something along the lines of quick sand that can not only keep you from jumping, but drag you down to its lowest level and suffocate you? It can serve as a semi-hidden hazard of the Nether (assuming it always spawns next to or within regular soul sand areas) and could have applications for anti-mob defenses.

Absolutely love the troll, and the Gluttons are pretty cool. There are a lot of changes I would like to see, maybe with a few changes, but I can't say that I agree with all of your suggestions. Overall it is a wicked topic, and one that definitely deserves attention.
Someone has mentioned this and I agree: the troll should be an overworld mob and not a netherspawn.
Troll stays. If you think about it LotR style, Trolls would want to avoid light the most, where better than in the Nether for that?
Anyway. I have a huge update ready to roll off, but I think I'm going to wait just a bit since we're so close to the last post of this page. I'll save it for the next page so more people will have a chance to see it.
No response to my attempt at modeling? I didn't do it for nothing, you know.
I'd just prefer it if you responded before the next big update, as that's all people will be talking about for the next three pages.
All I see for your modeling attempt is a red box that's labeled "no texture" on top of a grass block. i wasn't really certain what i was supposed to be commenting on.
Tilled Soul Sand Image: (Note: Both the bottom and top sides get the "tilled" texture when the Netherraze Hoe is used on it.
Updated Glowstone Sand Image:(This was actually what I had wanted originally, but it looked crappy the first time I tried, so I used the default sponge instead. I only just now got it looking right. I'll be updating Extended 2x2 Crafting with this image as well)
Updated the Demonbone smelting image:
Glowstone Lamp -
A Glowstone Lamp is actually 2 blocks tall, similar to Fences or Doors. Also like Doors, Glowstone Lamps cannot be stacked, but the advantage they have over stand-alone Glowstone Blocks is that they may be picked back up by breaking the "post" section of the block. Breaking the "glowstone" section of the Lamp will drop a single Glowstone dust and a Demon Bone so caution must still be used when breaking them down.
Glowstone Lamps may only be placed on the floor or ceiling, not on any walls.
Soul Glass:
Smelting -
Soul Glass can be made by Smelting Soul Sand. This process uses twice as much fuel per block, and smelting a single block of Soul Sand takes four times as long as a normal block. Features -
Soul Glass possesses a Blast resistance of 60, making it useful for building structures to withstand explosions while still being able to see the explosion through them. Soul Glass also has the ability to turn Opaque when a redstone current is run through it, though it is transparent by default. Soul Glass can also be crafted with Heavy Bones to make Soul Tools.
Soul Glass Tools -
Soul Sword -
Damage = Iron, and will cause all mobs hit to move as if walking on slowsand, and if they have any attacks, the interval between attacks will be lengthened by a similar proportion
Durability in Nether= 2xStone, Durability in Overworld/Aether = Stone.
Speed = Wood or Gold (whichever is slower) on all blocks regardless of location. When the player clicks to swing, there will be a delay of one second after each click before the tool will be swung.
Anything that the block or mob drops on breaking or death will automatically be sucked into the player's inventory (and dropped only if the player's inventory is full)
Soul Axe -

Ooooh, I get it now. Yeah, even a basic white/gray/black texture palette would have given us something to work with. It's a decent design for what you seem to be envisioning, but I get the feeling I'm envisioning something entirely different from this whole Boss Plant mob.
Also, new image for the planted Frightbulb:
A few things about the planted fright bulb should be noted:
Fright bulbs may be planted in Grass, but will remove the revert the block to dirt.
The Fright bulb pressure plate is affected by gravity, and will thus fall with gravel and sand. If the Gravel or Sand block is converted to an item by falling onto a torch or pressure plate, then the Fright Bulb will drop a leafless fright bulb(which will explode) the same way as if it were mined by hand.
Fight bulbs can be planted in Netherraze Ore BUT pretty much always result in an immediate explosion.
Fright bulbs that are planted in Soul Sand (in which they are generated naturally by the map) actually take 2 seconds for the explosion to occur instead of exploding immediately. (useful for creating traps that you can run through and have set off on pursuing enemies)
NOTE ON RAZE SHOVEL - Using it to mine a Snowblock should just replace the block of snow with a water source block on the map.
Ah, if you smelt soul glass around netheraze, you could make a lava lamp of sorts. It could be then placed next to a die on the workbench, it would turn to the color of the die, making colored lighting
All I see for your modeling attempt is a red box that's labeled "no texture" on top of a grass block. i wasn't really certain what i was supposed to be commenting on.
I did ask what to add in my next attempt, but I understand your response. I think I'll work on a basic texture so it's easier to see and understand which parts are which.
Edited it all in. And added the bit that Raze shovels can't mine the snow "panels"
I had actually meant snow BLOCKS would turn into a water block. Snowfall should just not mine when a Raze shovel is used on it.
So now we can pick the next topic from that list, and it can be official.
Nether Weather.
I'm currently in favor of ash that acts like upward "falling" snow that accumulates on the ceilings. It really drives it home as something that would be unique to the nether, since the Overworld wouldn't always have a ceiling. The Ash could then be gathered(any shovel) to make blocks like snow, but that break (into nothing) as soon as a mob steps onto them, and then off of them, or to just have ash placed directly as coverings to protect blocks from Acid Rain
I'm also in favor of Acid Rain, that can dissolve any Non-nether block it falls on with the possibility of using Asbestoskin to make an umbrella to protect the player with. The umbrella would effectively work as a shield, where as long as it is actively held it will protect the player from rain, but if the player holds down right click, they can defend from acid/fire attacks from the front (or possibly even projectiles)
Notch... get the **** in this thread, and copy all this ****.
About the Hive though... I suggest having it spawn 0-5 layers in the overworld, and attached to the ceiling in the Nether. It would give the Nether more of a physical attachment, even though it IS considered a separate dimension... that could change if you like the idea enough.
I like the new glowstone sand texture, it's nice and bright.
I think the glowstone blocks currently in Minecraft need to be made brighter. The texture is not bright enough for a block that gives level 15 light. It also looks like crap with chunks of corn in it (you'll never look at glowstone the same way again.)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
Where the hell is a mod maker? Soomeone seriously needs to make this mod or something so we can give better feddback on it. So far though, I really dont think thats neccesary. This doesnt even needs pics....ITS AMAZING!! x Infinity for this!

You really need to texture it so we can tell what it is really. I only figured that out when you told me there was a lip and I started looking for it.
