The raze tools likely are directly inspired by the infernium tools, (sabata proposed the tools and the ore they came from, I changed the name, tweaked the properties of the tools, modified how the ore was extracted, and specified how the ore should be distributed through the nether) but honestly having a weapon with fire properties is nothing new/original/unique/patentable.
Furthermore, the real point of this thread including them has less to do with their inclusion as it has to do with the EXCLUSION of all the other tiers of tools from the other thread.
You're a bit late, arguing about whether this is a rip off or not was all in the first 3 or so pages.
So could you please explain why this is worse than a suggestion that has 3 or 4 different tiers
of items that have no application? I suggest you read through the thread before posting. Suggestion
threads justify themselves eventually (at least Grey's suggestion threads do). At first I was like
you, completely mad about how this thread had dared to steal Scarecrowman's ideas. But then, as
Grey explained, I decided that this version makes more sense if you read the text. The graphics might be
worse, but the ideas are incredibly logical.
i like their ideas because the items they have use a special ability, but come at a cost,
their infernium tools are as stong as wood and is found on the edge of lava pools making it risky and hard to collect and it will generally fall in the lava.
but it is fairly common as the nether has many lava pools.
also anything as stronger then diamond is WAYYYYY TO overpowered.
edit:
i also dont understand if you freeze natheraze it becomes a netheraze ingot

"A bird doesn't sing because it has answer, It sings because it has a song"
It makes more sense than trying to smelt something that already produces it's own fire. Remember, you mine Netherraze Ore with a shovel, so think of freezing it into an Ingot like forcing Jello to set. A really Hard Jello, with burning properties.
Raze Tools only have the durability of iron in the overworld, and they actually CAN'T mine things like sand, cobblestone, WOOD, gravel, grass, etc, they're sometimes LESS useful that the iron, or even stone tools, epending on the situation.
Blood Tools are really only stronger than diamond IN the nether. Outside of the Nether, they're actually slightly weaker.

*ahem*
Inferno items last as long as gold does. They burn, so in a sense, they can also 'smelt'.
The raze tools are approximately the same (okay, slightly different) than the inferno tools. These tools
are actually stronger than the inferno ones.
...and, if you actually READ THE POST, you would see how freaking HARD it is to get blood tools. Okay.
First, you need to get Grimwood logs to make shards. To do this, you have to go to a Grimwood forest,
which is COMPLETELY blacked out, darker than the middle of a minecraft night, because there's no moon or stars..
all you can see is the glow of the lava behind you. Then, when you go into this darkness, you will be instantly
swarmed by Tunnel Mites. I think these things should do more damage, just to increase the impossibility
of getting grimwood. Also, you will probably encounter at least a few Grems in there, and every time you bump into
one you take damage. And if you're just randomly thrasing about in the darkness, you'll probably hit a Zombie Pigman, which will send the whole pack of them into a frenzy. If you're REALLY having a bad day, then you'll meet
a netherwurm, but that's rare. After you fight off the mobs, you take out your diamond axe and cut yourself some
precious logs.
Now, you have to make your feezer, use up some of your precious logs, find some netherraze, and then freeze
it using even MORE of your grimwood.
Congrats, you can FINALLY craft yourself some Raze tools.
That's why they're so strong..

I think Grey just hates putting new things into the game unless they can be completely and fully justified for at least 3 uses, not including looking cool.
Most of these, very good ideas. I like the gloom wood the most because it adds to the dead atmosphere.

I am just a guy looking for good suggestions that are original, creative, and match the theme of Mine-craft. I have some mob ideas that I need help forming which is a community project.
Unless I didn't realize it, I think you made the Gloomwood Forest a little too intimidating. XD
But yes, they are based off the Infernum tools. Which were actually called Thermosetite when I had decided to remake them. (Infernum was actually a name we came up with as well but Grey wanted something different. I had no idea Infernum was being used by the other thread at that point)
And the difficulty in getting them is the reasoning behind how strong they are.
Yeah, and you can place things like Glowstone/Glowstone Sand and Rave Gel/Rave Lanterns/Mushraves in order to boost light levels up a little bit. Gloomwood only puts out fire-based lightsources. Really, the power of the Raze tools comes more from the rarity of the Ore(you can run into it at any layer, but it's as rare per layer as diamond is) and all the special equipment and procedures you need for crafting from it (Gloomwood needs iron axe or better to mine, Netherraze needs Iron SHOVEL or better to mine, and requires gloomwood to freeze the ore into ingos, and also for the handles of the tools, and if you're out of gloomwood, you need a Netherraze Hoe, and bonemeal, to be able to grow more.
The tunnel mites are more nuisances, but can turn to creeper level griefing if you happen to be in a Funeral Forest (which has Fright Bulbs) instead of just a regular Midnight Copse.
Of course Gloomwood can still grow in solitary formations too.
While Minecraft doesn't follow all realworld physics and Laws, it does follow its own set of Rules. Wood burns, darkness spawns mobs, blocks float in midair unless it's sand or gravel. I mentioned that before. I understand you want to make something totally unique... but starting too radically different from the norm is a bad idea in general. Or, to follow the old adage, KISS; Keep It Simple, Stupid (no, not calling you stupid. It's just the phrase).
As for designing a visual for planks- I'm no artist, else I would.

<Pluecherry777>: I still think its funny that in 5 months, a group of modders made a mod thats actually better than a game thats been around for 2 years...
Or, to follow the old adage, KISS; Keep It Simple, Stupid (no, not calling you stupid. It's just the phrase).
I know the phrase. Which is why I kept Gloomwood to only having Blocks and Shards, instead of creating bunch of different items that only do one thing. Gloomwood can be placed as a block, Gloomshards can be placed or used in recipes the same as sticks, saplings and torches, without the player needing any additional crafting steps in the process.
Oh, btw, I thought about your gloomy torch issue and it's actually pretty simple: just place a Mushrave on top of a gloomwood block.(might need to have the gloomwood block buried a block down under glass or something) The light itself will be mostly damped, but you'll still be able to see the muted glow of the mushroom itself.
As for designing a visual for planks- I'm no artist, else I would.
I was referring more to blood gems. Even if you had an amazing deign for gloomwood planks, I still wouldn't implement them for that. I'd be more likely to modify whatever awesome design you came up with to work on the Gloomwood logs.

I like the idea of improving nether and all, but i think there are too many ideas packed here. How many new blocktypes, tools and mobs nether really needs to have? Does every tool have to have Overworld and Nether versions? Does nether really need that many monsters? Do you really need those new ores, blocks and liquids to swallow up the already limited block id amount. Few of those ideas are good but some are just useless which i could not find any use for.
What are you talking about? Why would you need different versions of tools for the nether and overworld? That is pretty much THE most inefficient method of implementing that feature, and trying to accomplish it that way might even be actively impossible.
And seriously, get off this goofy kick about limited block IDs. We're not going to start crippling a good idea that functions as a whole just because you're scared about running out of space. Notch needs to MAKE room for this stuff anyway.
And what bothered me the most was freezing Water->Snow->Ice when it should be Water->Ice. You cant make snow in your own freezer by freezing water, why would minecraft be different. And dont try and pull the MC is fantasy world card here, you dont see water flowing upwards in minecraft what means that some more common laws of physics should apply.
Actually it has more to do with the fact that you can already gather snow, but not ice, thus ice is the more valuable resource to be obtained and thus should require more steps. However since Snowballs are being updated to be able to put out fires (valuable resource in the Nether) It makes sense to make snow the block that requires more work.
Rather being able to craft 4 x Snowblocks from one Ice Block would be more plausible, as snow water density is at maximum of 50% (2 cubicmeters of snow =1 cubicmeter of Water) and that is already very dense snow, in normal conditions it is closer to 30% or so.
Actually, I rather like this idea. Ice isn't a block the player can normally carry, so there aren't any recipes in place that doing this would conflict with. I think I'd be more likely to say just let it be a straight 1-1 crafting of ice to snow (but not able to craft snow back into ice) after all, shaving/powdering the ice to snow that can be packed and worked with properly is doubtlessly gong to lose a fair amount of the water in the process.
I'll talk to sabata about updating the freezer description to reflect this.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Except 2 things: why would water be frozen into snow? in real life, water is frozen into ice.
And also, A mod introduces glowstone sand that's crafted the same way, has the same functions, and can be smelted into glowstone. But this would be epic if introduced to minecraft.
(BTW: U GET FOR THAT!!!!)
Ah yes, That "mod" I was talkin bout was extended 2x2 crafting grid
Yeah... I think I've heard of that mod. Hey, wouldn't it be awesome if the guy that came up with the ideas for that mod/suggestion could come up with ideas for THIS suggestion too? That would be EPIC!
We should also get the guy who organizes the Aether suggestion thread to add his input too, so that the Nether and Aether can complement each other perfectly. MEGA EPIC!!
I really like all of the ideas ALOT. but I think mabie the glowstone is to easy to get with the glowstone sponges and all... overall though, I would really love to see this! (you get :Diamond:)

In all seriousness, have you tried to convince Shockah, Kingbdogz, and KodaichiZero to make THIS update instead of the lame other Nether Update?
