I think there's definitely room in the game for some kind of glass-redstone combo, be it light-on-glass-equals-current or current-on-glass-equals-opaque. So keep on with the soul glass idea
Sorry to keep referring back to the Aether the whole time, but perhaps this could be linked in with crystal? I was never fully satisfied with what it's actual purpose was.
Well this thread was meant to compliment the Aether...
And while I wouldn't mind including some "Aether Block Only" activities in the New Nether, I'm not sure what Grey would say, since he doesn't really like suggesting ideas based on other suggestions.
Usually all of his ideas, while large, are self contained and don't REQUIRE anything from another one of his suggestions, even if the ideas compliment each other well.
Indeed. If I were going to shore up weaknesses in the crystal suggestion, it would be done directly to the crystal suggestion, not using any block from a different suggestion to do so.
It doesn't mean I won't include some bonus features that rely on things from other suggestions that I also support though, but before that happens the individual idea has to be survivable on its own.

Finally, since the Grim-hound debate seems to have little left to add, perhaps this should become the current topic?
It may have settled, but I'm still confused as hell as to what I'm going to change the OP to...
I'm still mulling over the specifics before I put out anything final.
I'm also working on different Textures for the Mushraves, tweaking gloomwood's texture and coming up with how Fright Bulbs should look. Hopefully by the time I work out all that, I'll have ironed out enough details on the Grimhound to make that viable.

oh certainly, I just don't have any specific ideas in mind. It should have an appearance that gives players the sense that it is both hot, but also still a dirt, rather than a stone block. Everything else I have very clear ideas for.
Nice job, this is probably one of the best suggestions i've seen, plus its well organized :biggrin.gif:

There was even going to be a party for you. A big party. That all your friends were invited too. I invited your best friend the companion cube. Of course, he couldn't come because you murdered him. All your other friends couldn't come either, because you don't have any other friends. Because of how unlikeable you are. It says so right here in your personal file: UNLIKEABLE, liked by no one, a bitter, unlikeable loner, who's passing shall not be mourned, SHALL NOT BE MOURNED. That's exactly what it says. Very formal. Very official. It also says you were adopted, so thats funny too.
I think that everything about this is perfect, except for the mushrave art. I love the concept, but feel that they look too similar to regular mushrooms.

Otherwise, fantastic job.
Grey actually recently said he's going to be reworking their artwork. So we'll see what he has in store for us when he gets around to finishing it.

yeah, I'm currently browsing around for different distinctly "mushroom" shapes that are a bit more exotic looking than the red and brown mushrooms that are standard in the overworld.
I'm figuring one will be tall mushroom, one will be wide and flattish, and the last will do something else.

Perhaps this was sugested alrady (I stoped reading at page 5). when a minecart/lavaraft comes into contact with tears, let it become a gold minecart. Instead of making a new item ID, just make it a variant of the minecart (like wool has diffrent colors). Not hard to do, just looks pretty

Minecrafts will drop 5 gold ingots. Sabata forgot to make those changes to the opening post.

I got a new mob for you. A Nether Creeper! They NEED to be in the Nether, they are a major symbol of Minecraft.
Exactly, so stop trying to water down minecraft's symbol by expecting there to be unimaginative color/postfix variants in the nether.

By the way, I agree that netherraze seems more of a dirt block than a rock block.

My bad... I thought I had done that. Fixed that under the Midas Tears section.
Netherraze, a block that burns whatever touches it, should cause wheat to grow FASTER?
Besides grilled pork, you also have mushroom soup, and by using bonemeal, you can force wheat to grow even in spite of the Nether Blight effect, and then you can use the Bloodgem hoe to gather it, also in spite of the nether blight effect.
Currently the only "replacement" we have is the dye bowls from the MushRaves.
But you're very much correct in that those are kiiinda needed for continued survival.
Okay Grey you work on the compilation of NetherHounds (after the art), and I'm changing the current topic to how to get Torches, or Torch like products, in the Nether.

Personally, I find torches it be a moot point. Think of all the light sources in the nether already: lava, neatherrack(on fire), mushraves, glowstone. Heck, we already can get flint by killing grems. All we need is to bring some iron (or have a nether-equivalent, but as we are trying to avoid copying OW items...).

Probably because it requires a shovel to mine it.

Currently... Same thing that would happen if you try to Till Sand or Gravel

And also, Mobs will spawn in the Nether regardless of Light levels.
