Having either telescope or binoculars. That way you can look into the distance to see where you came from or looking ahead to see if theres something worth investigating. Only rendering what you can actually see through the lens.
Second Idea
Steam powered engine. Having this you can attach it to a boat making water travel a little faster and more efficient.
Third Idea
Arrows with TNT attached, only a stick of TNT not a block. Would make hunting, mining, and igniting fuses easier.
Fourth Idea
When you find dungeons having some sort of unique monster towards its bottom. Killing this monster would drop some sort of rare item.
The "READ THIS FIRST" thread even says only suggest one thing per topic. And all of these have been suggested before.

The next time an authority asks me, "What could possibly have given you such a lack of respect for the value of human life?" I will respond, "Sir, have you even BEEN to the internet?"
well I like the first one that would be nice since you could acwelly have a use for large watch towers
and we have an engine for minecarts but it would be nice if we had mroe boats though

These are quality suggestions, especially the fourth "unique monster boss" suggestion is particularly intriquing, but I think that one is the most unfeasible. The binoculars Idea is good. We need something like a map or some tool giving the ability to see farther than than the virtual-naked-block-eye.

Nobody likes a ****ing liar. All of these have been suggested before, and suggested better.
fair enough i take back my comment, I know those have been suggested a little better, but i thought small parts were good, or had some small points to them. When i posted my reply, i didn't realize it was efficiency which drove Azathoth's comment, not anything else. Afterall, theses forums can't get gummed up, of course. My apologies.
But who's a liar? That's an opinion, opinions aren't something you can lie about, Ill take that opinion back becuase of everything i just said 3 sentences ago, even if I didn't take it back. It wouldn't make me a liar.
1) No. If you want to see if something is important but far away, and you still want to see it, you should go there.
2) Boats go fast enough in my opinion. I'm indifferent about steam power, since you could just use a furnace and a bucket of lava instead of steam.
3) Minecraft is easy enough.
4) No. By 'rare item' I assume you mean something like a diamond. No mob should drop diamonds. Instead of unique mobs, maybe just something like a dragon. I think our current dungeons are fine though.

Keep Imagining.

Wow. Loads of mobs to program. Notch takes about a month to add a mob. This idea of yours would require 100.
