With tamable wolves expected in the next update. I think it would be awesome if we had the ability to construct a sled and have the wolves pull it around to travel faster, Maybe feed them to get them to power to the sled. You could make the sled out of wood, and maybe leather as the reigns. I'm not sure if it makes sense to put the sled on anything besides snow though? What do you guys think?
Also it would be cool if the dogs start to growl if they smell/hear/see a hostile mob in the area.
Cool but I think it would be hard to make a mob (till we know if tamed mobs will follow you peacefully or obey you with commands and all) stay still and not haul off with your sled or take you over a cliff in order to get a zombie or creeper also I think this would be good as a crafting recipe:
i agree with having a pulled sled, however sled r for the snow, and i dont find much snow in my worlds. if notch implemented seasons then this would be great
I think its a really good idea, i thought this too my self.If everyone who thinks it a good idea and you want it to be in the game, you should go to this link " http://getsatisfaction.com/Mojang and type the ideas you think Notch should add and there you can also vote on other peoples thoughts and agree with his or her idea too.As a matter of fact im posting a Topic about this right now....
As far as all the questions to the recipe and capability of the sled is up for anyone to decide. I'm not really looking for credit of the idea i just think it would be a cool addition to the game for all of us.
One of the coolest things about minecraft is going out and exploring new land. Everyone wants an airplane or an army tank but neither would really fit into the game. I think a sled hooked up to the dogs is not only a great use for the dogs, a fun way to travel and explore faster, but also holds tight to the integrity of the game. Especially if you had to feed the dogs to cover distance just like you give fuel to a furnace.
If you guys like this idea just drop a comment so it can get some attention. As i said i have no intention of having credit for this idea. I just think it would a cool thing for us gamers to enjoy.

Do you not understand that everything in Minecraft is cubic? There is no way to lift the sled between levels, like a ramp. It would look stupid to run into a brick and instantly be one brick higher than you just were, at the speed of light.

Well, do you not understand that when moving upwards on a half-step (or Slab) you are automatically bumped up half a block higher, and that doesn't really matter to you does it?
Maybe it could only go up Stairs (Simulating A Ramp Or A Slope) but would only be able to go up stairs at 1/2 the speed they were going at in the First Place
And maybe when you reach 1 block higher, your dogs would jump to get over that block, and when your sled reaches that block, it would go up it at an Angle or something
And anyways, does it need to be pushed by dogs, I mean could it be pushed by humans at a slower pace?

These guys make awesome art for Mods (Items, New Blocks and Mobs)
I will be using them soon
I'm Starting to be known as a Balancer, A.K.A. I'm starting to become pessimist

What I am trying to say is... No.
