An idea I had for a minecraft multiplayer server based game.
I don't have the computer/time to make a server so hoping that someone out there will take this idea.
But basically how it'll work is you'll have 2 teams or maybe more depending on how many people you want to play with. But for now lets say 2 teams.
Round 1: Establishing the Forces
The 2 teams will have 10 weeks to build 5 forts each. 2 weeks per fort. (or you can have a premade map with 5 forts for each team.
Now here is maybe a sketch of the map. = forts for team 1 = forts for team 2
The Flag
Each fort will have a flag (3 gold blocks stacked on top of each other):
The flag must be accessible and not directly behind any block.
Save the map file. (IMPORTANT)
Round 2: Attacking/Preparing for Battle
YOU MAY NOT ATTACK/GRIEF/STEAL besides specified times for battle.
Now decide who will take the first turn attacking.
Lets say red is the first attacker and blue is the defender.
Red may choose only one blue fort to attack and one red fort to attack from (this will be their spawn point each time they die).
Lets say on every saturday/sunday 4-6pm is battle time.
Each team has unlimited time before to prepare for battle. And depending on how many forts they hold they get a certain amount of material to make armor and weapons. The offensive will always get slightly more ammunition. I would highly recommend the arrow mod for Minecraft (tnt arrows, flare arrows to send signals, etc).
EACH TEAM IS NOT ALLOWED TO PREPARE OR BRING THEIR OWN WEAPON.
Saturday Red team is on the offensive. So they have 4-6 pm to destroy the enemies flag.
If they fail to do so that is there turn and they claim no cities.
Now reset the map to original. All cities are fixed and defenses are fixed.
If Red claimed any forts, blue may attack it and may not attack from it.
Sunday it is Blues team.
Fortifying
Mon-Friday: Each team has time to improve fortifications of the bases preparing for Saturday and Sunday.
Friday - Save Map File!
Saturday-Sunday begin the sieges.
Tips:
-Don't attack a fort if you do not have a fort that is close to it. It'll take longer to spawn and get back into the battle eating up time.
-Keep on to your forts! The less forts you have the less ammunition you get.
-Defend the Flag! and build around it!
-Specialized tasks. You can have a tnt cannonier crew to set up tnt cannons to siege walls. Have someone loading the cannon and the other one firing. Make sure to have people guarding them because they cannot build and defend at the same time. Use strategy and scout during the peaceful periods. Its good to get a good idea of how the enemies are set up.

Isn't there a forum for server ideas? But this would only be affective if you have a lot of people willing to play each week. And you only save on friday? What if the server gets corrupted? All the weeks work would be for nothing.
