Now since I know that there's a billion topics about 'npc villages' and such im not even going to really bother with that part but something that I don't think has really been suggested are Merchant's. Now i'm talking about basically a mob that trades different items.
How i think it would be interacting with the game is the following; On every chunk there is a 25% (or less) spawn chance for the merchant, and every day it would be trading different objects. For instance; A merchant spawns on a chunk i am currently on. This merchant wants to trade for . A 'currency' is now set although it would slightly change just for the sake of not letting the prices become to dulll. Let us say that this merchant wants to trade 20 for 5 . The interaction would be simple. Right click on the merchant to see what he is offering. Then right click again (with object to trade in hand) to agree.
I think that this would be making a huge improvement on the gameplay since we now can practically "gamble" with the in-game "merchant market" using our hard earned resources.
The merchant will only spawn on daytime as it would give you a chance to go and look for one. Once night time begins the mob despawn and you will have to wait till the next day and hope for another spawn.
If you choose to enter a fight with the merchant and you actually kill him, you would get a random piece of what he was offering+ a chance to get some leather equipment. The merchant is also very strong which means only the fittest of warriors would actually have the guts and skill to defeat him. But as said, the reward can be magnificent!
One other thing that I know people will get pissed of about, but still. IF NPC villages, setlements would be implemented then a Merchant's guild would seem pretty fit wouldn't it?
Give me some feedback and start ballin' around you own ideas (pun intented)! (Sorry if this have been posted earlier and in a similar way...) ??

How is this "Gambling"
Ok wrong choice of words, but what i mean is that one day we would be getting something for an insane price while the other day we would get it pretty cheap. This creates the sort of "gambling" only with the "market". Sorry for confusion :wink.gif:
Also, you mentioned having different items to trade every day... How could it tell if it is a new day? If anything, it should switch his wares at sunset and sunrise, with more valuable stuff at nighttime.
Problem with this is that, so far, mobs unload after a while, so more need to spawn every now and then, otherwise, you'd never get to trade anything, unless you make new chunks pop up...
Another problem is that, unless you code it right, monsters may attack them and kill them. Plus, 25% chance on each chunk is very high. 5% or lower would be better, I'd say.
Ok, just wondering, if you attack the merchant, will he give you worse deals. And what happens if you kill him, do you get anything?
Well i think that an attack would provoke a fight and if he dies, then you would either loot a few pieces of what he was offering and maybe leather armory/weapon or something like that.

Well since we are talking about spawns here then I thought that it would be an daytime only mob which then would despawn. Then the next day there would be a chance for it to spawn etc etc.
This would be too complicated for them to have several different "settings" of what they could sell, having them spawn and pick one, plus have the code for the trading. Think of the coders man, or try doing it yourself, why not?

Well it's not that complicated if you think about it. There's already server mods that allows trade with an npc. Then the thing about "settings" can be solved by using an algorithm of some sort or whatevs.

He should be like the Kleceon brothers from PMD2
He ahs a insane attack and health, almost unkillable. And he drops EVERYTHING he was selling if he dies?
