Click click click click click click click... sound familiar? That's you moving stuff around in the inventory. A lot of time is wasted clicking and it's kind of annoying clicking so many times for such simple tasks. I have a few ideas that would streamline the process.
Left Click & Hold, Stationary (on item): Left click on an item and hold for 1.5 seconds in the slot it was in. This will compile all of the same items from your inventory to your cursor. So say you were mining for a while and you have a full inventory of cobblestone, normally if you wanted to move all of them to a chest you would do so many redundant clicks. Left Click & Hold would severely cut down on the time wasted moving each individual stack. Your cursor now has a stack of 200 or 500 or however much cobblestone you mined.
Click & Hold (on empty slot, with item):
- Left Click + Move: So now you want to put down the massive cobblestone stack. You could click each individual slot or you could Click & Hold and hover over the slots in one motion, "cascading" the items. If the the big stack can't be divided by 64 the first stacks will be placed as 64's and the final stack will be the remainder.
- Left Click Stationary: Left click on an empty slot for 1.5 seconds. This will auto-place all items in the big stack in any open slots.
- Right Click: You can also hold the right mouse button to cascade single items.
Left Click & Hold + E: Hold for 1.5 seconds. This will compile ALL items in your inventory into one stack. The item you click will be the one displayed on the cursor. If the command is not executed on an item it will start with the top left item.
I wish I could get this to Notch somehow. I'm sure he gets thousands of emails a day and it would get lost in the mix. This shouldn't be too hard to implement (though I don't know anything about coding) and it would make inventory management a lot more streamlined.
