time doors will be a time locked door designed to open at a time of the day like a door that opens at night but stays closed permenantly at day night doors are made like this
=iron door
this will make an obsidian time door
repeat the same thing only with glowstone to make a day door
it would be useful for multiplayer in some ways and useful contraptions in the game
Yeah, it would be good for time challenges and you could set the timer.

I am just a guy looking for good suggestions that are original, creative, and match the theme of Mine-craft. I have some mob ideas that I need help forming which is a community project.
People have already suggested (and even made Mods including) "light triggers" - blocks which only trigger at a certain light level, and send a redstone signal if active.
Using those you can make daytime-triggered doors, traps, dispensers and pretty much everything else you could think of. It's a much more versatile idea that covers your suggestion as well as 100 other possibilities.

i'm not sure if you're putting it completely into your own words or not. Can we see a thread, please?
personally i think the daytime door idea is perfect, because it would have the advantage of being connected to the actual time and not a light level. Also, if we wanted to make the light-triggered door underground, we would have to put a giant hole all the way down to it just so that it actually connects with the day and night. The daytime door wouldn't.
I don't quite see how your light triggers have an advantage over the OP's door, in this context.
Now don't get me wrong, the light-triggered door sounds like a really good idea.
My position in this argument is that they should be two different doors altogether (assuming that they get implemented. assuming.).
Omg if these get implemented there will be so many LoZ RPG makes. (Luuuuv)

Redstone torches create light.

Sounds good, but how would these work in the Nether or an Aether (If it comes out)?
They should constantly open and close, just like our current locks.

This is a fair point, but I agree that crafting it directly into a door is limiting. Why not have some new redstone input that has a clock in the design, which can be used for time-based triggers? That way you could use it for anything, far more than just doors.
This would be a perfect solution. Not limiting the use to door mechanisms while retaining the daytime-bound function.

I would normally link to the threads in question, but searching minecraft by using google is quite a hassle and - in my eyes - not worth the effort for such a small affair. It's quite a popular idea though, has been suggested several times, there's at least one big thread about it, and there's even a Mod that does this if I'm not mistaken.

If it aint worth fixing dont fix it.
Probably wouldn't.
Better question is what use would it have?

What I got from the replies is "Door stays shut at certain time of day"
This idea would be better if carefully thought out.
But even so, APPROVE!

I like this better.
It could just open and close rapidly like the clock / compass.
I like the idea, but it most likely wont be added.
