I know, there are PLENTY of dog idea threads running around at the moment but i think some of these ideas are nice and original. Some also might have been already suggested(get ready search bar nazis).
I've seen the video showing that giving a dog a bone will make it nice and follow you. I think this should be either done with a bone or a raw ham being tossed onto the ground near the wolf. This would make whichever wolf takes the food "semi-tame".
A semi-tame dog would follow you but not do what you ask, so you make a collar.
= any colour wool = string.
The colour of wool you use would affect the colour of their collar.
A menu would then pop up with a space to put your dogs name.
Once you have named you dog, it will follow you, and do what you say.
Hold food= sit
Right click with food= feed the dog
Left click the dog= follow
Right click with stick= play fetch
q while playing fetch= a long throw for the dog to get the stick
Right click with nothing equipped= pet the dog
Thats all the commands i can think of at the moment.
I also think that the dog limit should be 3 because any more would get a bit overpowered if you had a load of raw meat and bones.
Now to beds:
Make a dog bed like so:
Hopefully notch adds different coloured beds depending on what colour wool you are using.
The dog bed would be 2x2 and it would also just add some aesthetically pleasing looks.
Also, when you get out of your bed, the dog should either be curled up in his bed, or waiting for you to wake up.
Thanks for reading my thread,

I have a video of Charlie Sheen while he was high. Is that what you mean by a charged creeper?
It would be a nice aesthetic, especially if you build him his very own dog house.
But you could sent him to bed where he would either sit there or curl up and go to sleep, until you get him to follow you. This could even heal him partially. And if you go adventuring without him, you know that he will be waiting for you in his little bed.
As another suggestion, you could maybe fit 2 dogs in a bed, to save space.

I had a doghouse suggestion amended to a previous dog post.
Essentially.
Placing a dog house would work as
[] [] [] []
To make the dog house. When placed, the wolf/dog would not stray more than 20 blocks from the doghouse unless called by it's owner (the owner would right-click the doghouse shutting it's door.)
If the player places 2 or more dog houses within 50 blocks of eachother, the dog would periodically sentry from one to the next; obvious noise and randomness added.
If the player places a doghouse out of range of the others, the dogs do not see it or know it exists. The doghouses have to be pathable without destroying blocks. So placing a doghouse in a cavern right below another dog house will not work.

i think it should be that you can only have one dog house per tamed dog, and you dont need the house-patrolling thing either. just let it roam free, or make it follow you.(or sleep in its bed)
