gold is probably the least used used resource in minecraft. since its not used for tools or Armour and there isnt enough of it to build with my idea is it could be used as a design feature. in the crafting menu you can surround (top, bottom, left, right) a piece of Armour or a block of some kind and the result would be that block or Armour but now its edges have a gold lining, it would give blocks better visual appeal and make Armour much more fashionable.
to get other kind of linings you could use coal for black, lapus for blue, ect.
please comment i would like to know what other people think of the idea
Seems kind of expensive. Four materials for ONE block with a trim. Maybe you could have other crafting steps, such as shaving the block, or something of the sort.

well i always end up getting way more coal than i need in the later game and gold has no real use besides clocks.but i can see what you mean since you wont be able to make anything really big with trimmed blocks since it would take forever to gather the resoucres

The gold would be replaced with any of the trim and the glass would be replaced with the item o be trimmed (glass could be used though)
